Great effort by Martin this year. Losing the guards was an unforseen disaster and Barnetts suspension was a killer against a deep team.

No need to apologize, the fans realize it was his only season so far making your statement completely accurate. Unless of course you're saying that he won't ever be able to top a 20 win season with first round exits in the conference and NCAA tournaments. If you think he's not ever doing better than you just obviously don't know much about sports in general. What Martin did this season is a huge step in the right direction and the future definitely looks brighter than it did this time last year.

This was a great season and the trajectory of our program is going up This wasn't even a setback. It was an expected and acceptable outcome. |

This was a really weird season. The team overachieved on the macro level and underachieved significantly in numerous areas.
They probably should have had another four or five wins before the tournament. The West Virginia game was an egregious choke job, the Florida game was stolen by the referees, and the Ole Miss, LSU, and Illinois games were awful performances that Mizzou wins going away if they play at even 60 percent of their potential. The team developed a hard-nosed defensive mentality, but suffered far too much attrition in the back court. Harris transferring killed this team, as did Phillips' moral failings and his complete lack of development from his sophomore to junior year. If he played like he did as a sophomore, this team probably wins 25-26 games even without MPJ. Ultimately, they ran out of gas because they weren't deep enough. CVL sucks, but sucks is still a lot better than Rau. CVL's not even a homeless man's Matt Lawrence, and if I here one more middle-aged white guy defend him in CoMo, I might bludgeon them with a brick. Puryear showed almost no improvement, and had a terrible propensity for bad shots and bad fouls. The guy that truly kept this team afloat was Kassius, who, despite his suddenly awful free throw shooting over the last month, gave the team much more than anyone could have ever anticipated. He and Oriakhi are two one-year guys I will always look back upon with immense fondness. Geist sucks too, but he should be playing at Warrensburg. Barnett failed his teammates in their hour of greatest need and it broke their backs. He morphed himself into a corner-three camper, which was nice at times, but he needed to drive to the basket to open up the offense. Grades: Cuonzo Martin: B+ Kassius Robertson: A Jontay Porter: B+ Jeremiah Tilmon: C- Kevin Puryear: D Jordan Geist: C+ Cullen Van Leer: D+ Jordan Barnett: B up until March 8, then F Terrence Phillips: 20 to life Blake Harris: WF CJ Roberts: WF And most dismaying of all Michael Porter Junior: Incomplete |

Hopefully we can land Ramey. Jontay should be alot better next year(unless he mistakenly goes to the NBA). We need another scorer or 2 and we should be as good if not better next year.

God I hope we can do something of significance soon. It's embarrassing seeing what should be an inferior program like k-state with an inferior coach put us to shame. I wouldn't put money on an elite 8 trip any time soon.

Put us to shame? Have you seen the dumpster fire that has been Mizzou basketball the last several years. Forget Kansas State, the worst team in the Big 12 would have put us to shame. It’s a small miracle that Mizzou won 20 games this year without basically a single significant minute from their top recruit and no PG. They were a young inexperienced team minus Kim Anderson’s garbage leftovers.
K-State is solid gritty team with strong veteran leadership, whose bracket opened up for them thanks to some upsets. Tonight’s win for them is impressive and kudos to them but it in no way takes away from Mizzou basketball when you consider the joke they’ve been the last few years prior to this years turn around. Good luck to K-State against Loyola. They’ve got a great opportunity to make the Final 4. |

Weber is in year 6 or 7 It takes time to build a program. Cuonzo is already well on his way with a 20 win season |
