Defensive players should dominate the top of the 2019 NFL draft.

The 2018 NFL Draft season is officially over.
Now, it's time too look ahead.

Yes, it's too early. But that doesn't make it any less fun to try and project the top prospects of the 2019 draft before they even play in the upcoming season. A lot can (and definitely will) change on this list.

At first glance, it appears this quarterback class might be a significant step down from last year's, as there's no Sam Darnold-level quarterback prospect viewed as the early favorite to go No. 1.

Spoiler!

NFL Mock Draft 2019: Dolphins, Bengals pick QBs; Jets take star defender

With the 2018 NFL Draft in the books, it’s only right that we immediately look to next year’s draft class. Using Super Bowl odds for next year, we’ve determined a draft order for the 2019 NFL Draft.

The 2019 NFL Draft class will feature at least two elite defensive line prospects in Houston’s Ed Oliver and Ohio State’s Nick Bosa in what should be a defense-heavy top of the draft.

I'm just going to say this first pick will be a OLB to replace Houston or a left tackle to replace Fisher

As silly as it might sound, mock drafts are already out for 2019 and the majority of analysts believe the Chiefs will keep investing where they did this year.

Hours after the 2018 NFL Draft closed, two things happened that occur every year. They make zero sense and yet the exercises are as common as the draft itself these days. Of course, I’m talking about NFL Draft grades as well as mock drafts for a full year into the future.

Two 2nd round picks next year will be nice.

Could use both or trade way up in the first round if they feel necessary.

Yea next years draft is going to be huge for us to make a run.

With Nelson and Amerson being free agents, I’m pretty confident our first pick will be a corner barring a big FA signing or one of those guys having a great year and earning an extension.

2019: Clemson will dominate the first round
The Tigers are loaded, and four defensive linemen could be among the first 32 picks.

There is already an underclassmen declared for the 2019 NFL Draft, and it’s arguably the best prospect in the nation.

In March, defensive tackle Ed Oliver said he was going pro after his junior season at Houston. He’ll have a line of star defensive tackles behind him. A cursory glance toward next year’s draft shows that defensive tackle is the strongest position.

Figuring out where to peg them all was challenging in this initial 2019 mock draft. These early mock drafts aren’t really about getting picks right a year out. My first 2018 mock was a disaster. Instead, they’re more about creating a base on which players to follow during the college football season.

The draft order is based on the latest regular season win projections from the Westgate Superbook (via USA Today) so spare me the complaints and go put your money on it.

2019 NFL Mock Draft: Dolphins, Broncos, Chargers, Jaguars land new quarterbacks

By R.J. White

The 2018 NFL Draft is now behind us, which means it's time to get cracking on 2019 NFL Draft preparation.

Here's an extremely early look at how the 2019 draft could play out. Attention was paid to contract situations heading into next offseason, though some assumptions were made that certain star players would stay with their respective teams.

One thing to note is that there is some monster defensive line talent that could be available next year, including four players from Clemson alone. If the teams that drafted new franchise QBs this year struggle to win games in 2018, they should be well-positioned to land a blue-chip defender next year.

Looking for a hot new podcast that's your home for all things NFL? Look no further. The Pick 6 Podcast with Will Brinson has you covered every weekday morning with new episodes around 30 minutes each.

The draft order in this mock was determined by using SportsLine's projections before the 2018 NFL Draft. So if your favorite team is picking too high, please note that we're not taking into account that they aced this past draft and are definitely winning the Super Bowl next year.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — OK, the 2018 NFL Draft is over.

The Browns cashed in on their draft pick equity, but the rebuild is not complete. What about next year?

Here is a look at 32 prospects to watch in this way too early 2019 mock draft. The purpose of this is more to assess what next year’s draft class could look like than who could go where.

The order for this mock draft is based on a pre-draft projection for the 2018 season by ESPN’s Mike Clay. He predicts the Browns to finish 7-9, while Buffalo and Miami to win just two games and vie for the top pick next year.
