Tranquill may just be the best inside linebacker that precious few NFL football fans know anything about. Tranquill had a breakout season in 2022, good enough to warrant serious Pro Bowl consideration. He was credited with 146 combined tackles, 5 QB sacks, and an interception. Tranquill was easily the defensive leader and tone setter for the Chargers defense.

At 6'2" and 235 lbs, to go along with a 4.57 forty, Tranquill possesses the size and speed to make plays all over the field. He showcased admirable aggressiveness towards the fray, and competent physicality at the point of attack.

The Giants need to find an answer at linebacker. Tranquill’s 144 tackles for the Chargers in 2022 were a career high, and he can be deployed as a blitzer from multiple second-level alignments. He logged 5.5 sacks and four pass breakups last season, too. Tranquill would play inside linebacker for Wink Martindale’s defense, but he has the movement ability of a weakside linebacker in both base and sub-packages.

The one issue with Tranquill is that despite his high tackle totals, he struggles against the run. He’d have to improve in that area as it was an Achilles heel for the defense in 2022.

Dunno, but pretty good athlete.
Darius Harris’s was the only guy we didn’t tender. He was pretty damn slow. This guy is 235 lbs and is a lot faster. His 3 cone is also below 7 seconds which is damn good.

10 yard split at 1.59 is great too.

Yeah they wanted more speed without losing size. LB’s in this draft are fast but are also small

Maybe they're going to make Bolton a true 2 down backer after seeing him struggle in coverage. Only thing I can see right now other than him taking all of Leo's snaps.

Our linebackers are ****ing nasty. This guy can cover and blitz.

Perhaps most importantly in today's NFL, Tranquill followed up his 74.6 coverage grade in 2021 with a career-high 75.4 mark, with his 18 stops in coverage a top-20 figure among off-ball linebackers.”

Said to be a cover LB, which I believe was a need. Burrow exposed our LBs lack of quality coverage skills in the first game against the Bengals last year and I am guessing Veach and Andy saw the need.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

The Chiefs just stole this guy.

We might have the nastiest LB unit in the league right now.

You're going to see this defense take a giant leap forward next season.
