So take your pick: the Chiefs are telling the truth and are complete idiots when it comes to negotiating trades or the Chiefs are lying to save face about getting a shit return in this deal. It's one or the other.
This also assumes when you want to trade a guy you keep it hush hush and don't tell more than one or two teams about it.

I'm sure when someone is available they call around the league to see who'd be interested in getting the player.

If you're not calling all the teams you're really selling yourself short. Even if they know you're going to dump him they still have to outbid each other. If nobody bids it's not because you lowered value, it's because nobody wants him.

Exactly.

It was the only way to start a bidding war.

I hate losing Peters, but clearly the discussion in here disregards reality in regard to behavior, negotiation and management of people.

Peters demanded a trade. Then had his agent spread the news that he wouldn't sign long term anywhere but in California. Clark caved in on all demands because he is a grade A pussy.

LA and Oakland are very similar. If you mention Trump around here, you'll get your ass kicked. Not saying it's right, it just is. I can see why minorities would feel uncomfortable outside of California.

I don't understand the third round comp pick argument, we got a higher pick than that in compensation. Is it just cause we would have had him one more year and then the third rounder?

And don't comp picks come after the round, or am I mistaken?

Peters is shit. He doesn't tackle. He's a great coverage corner that creates turnovers often by stripping the ball while other guys are actually tackling the runner. He literally gets out ofthe way of contact. How many third downs the past two seasons could the D actually gotten off the field when Peters just moved out of the way. Good riddance you POS

Comp Picks are awarded after each round, beginning with the third round.

The earliest Comp Pick awarded would be #97 overall.

Plus, there's no guarantee that the Chiefs would be awarded a 3rd round comp pick after the 2019 season because they're weighted.
