Unless we aree 100% well on offense we won't win a playoff game. We have the worst set of back 7 in the league. None of them are any damn good.

This one thing bothers me more about the game then anything else.
(Well, anything else other than the loss.) We don't have a good defense. We don't have a QB game manager, we have a MVP type QB. Keep the offense on the field. Whatever small chance there is of some disaster like an interception, it is smaller than the disaster that was punting. The Chargers went for 2 because they were scared to give our offense another chance. We should have had the same mentality. |

I could've handled the loss a lot better if Rivers just made a helluva pass and Williams made a helluva catch with great defense, but to literally just trip on your own dick and let them get it with ease is what was so gut wrenching and has everyone in full meltdown believing this is the same show we've seen time and time again. |

Nice write up as usual George. The one other silver lining might be the singular difference of all these other depressing, soul crushing defeats and that's Mahomes. Yes the defense got they're shiz pushed in the last 5 minutes but I submit to you, if Mahomes had the ball last night down by 1 with :45 left on the clock would we even be talking about Gramps today? I don't think so.

As I read this I can feel your angst and despair with each word you typed. It's like you finally let yourself believe that this year would be different yet here we are again creating unique statistics of futility that somehow only the Chiefs manage to accomplish.
I can sense the slow shuffle of sadness from the moment you left your seats, slowly getting out of bed this morning until the moment you hit the "submit" button to post this thread. You encapsulated the entire game and feelings in one column of perfection. I spent last evening watching the game with eDave and yet neither of us went ballistic when we lost because we are conditioned as Chief's fans to expect failure and disappointment. I was very happy when this thread finally popped up as I thought you might have snuck into the field after the game, tied a noise around your neck and hung yourself on the goalpost as a final "**** you" to the Chiefs. Glad to see your Ten Things and it's a classic for sure! Let's hope last night's loss motivates us against the Seahawks because if we lose there, all of Mahomes magic will have been in vain. |

You are a tough man, GB. How you sit yards away from the origin of all the failure without completely losing your mind is impressive.
I have shrugged off the last few years of predictable implosions with relative ease. The loss last night had me livid. I don't let games bother me much, but last night did. I actually lost a little sleep, because my several of my children were sick but also because of the game. One of my buddies, a fellow CP member told me in a text conversation that it's different "because we actually have a shot at doing something" this season. Well, here we are. |

Like you “I shouldn’t let the Chiefs affect my mood this much.” "I’m trying to get better at that." "After 50 years of failure, I’m trying not to take it personally." Sums up my sentiment exactly! I got pretty good about shrugging off the failure. Then came Mahomes the excitement built and I started to believe. Last night was a gut check. Hard to say exactly how the rest of this season will finally shake out, but you can rest assure that failure at some point is involved. I will spend another night or 2 of failing to sleep and being in a foul mood. We are always a few pieces short of being a complete team. Hard not to get down on the franchise. We are like jilted lovers who just can't quit the one who breaks our hearts! |

I get that last night sucked, but how many fanbases wouldn't sign up for the Chiefs' future right now?
