This is why the Big 10 destroyed their football season and arguably set their conference back for years...

The NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL, international soccer leagues, etc. apparently don't share the same concern. And neither does the ACC... Quote:

I honestly can’t believe how cowardly this country has gotten. 55 years old, been battling cancer since 17 years old. It’s in my lungs, bones. Kidneys, colon, thyroid and lymph nodes. I wouldn’t have lived past 21 if I had been living in fear of an illness that has a much higher mortality rate. GROW SOME BALLS PEOPLE and live for today, tomorrow is not promised.

I don’t claim that COVID is a hoax, I have no problem wearing a mask and social distancing to an extent, but I agree with this 100%. I’m not going to live in fear. I have a son that’s about to turn 1 and I’m not going to drive myself crazy over this. |

Basically all of the relevant teams in college football other than Ohio State, in terms of recent CFP appearances... Clemson, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia, Notre Lame, etc. will still be playing this fall...
The Big 10 and Pac 12 (if they stupidly decide to cancel their season as well) have just given themselves an SMU-like death penalty that will have many long term consequences for both conferences.

So the two conferences that pride themselves on academics ax the football season?

Just so you know, the amount of money that will cost colleges will be off the charts. And after this season when Nebraska has to go back the Big 10 would basically ass rape them for playing out of conference.

The guys who do play who will be eligible for the 2022 draft will sit out of next years season. They aren't gonna play two seasons in a calendar year then get ready for the draft etc.
This may end up being a bit of a death blow to college football. |

What, pray tell, is making the B1G and PAC decisionmakers think that conditions are going to be any different eight months from now?

The MAC was already hitting a tipping point of people thinking they spent to much money on football and this will just propel that even faster.

The Pac is cancelling because they think like the Big 10 in that regard and also because well most of their schools are in very progressive areas. It's really no coincidence than the 2 conferences that are the first to do this are the 2 that think highly of their academics. |
