Some people are confusing or intermingling the value of bitcoin and blockchain.

Blockchain has great potential-bitcoin not so much as it's too vulnerable to manipulation, too long to cash out, theft, scams and sky high fees.

I believe there is going to be a FIXED value coin using blockchain that will be a "container" vessel just to transfer and store value for a fee, like a prepaid credit card with much less fees.

Wow, Chipotle really made up and far exceeded the damage to their stock done by the food sickening scandal.

I didn't realize it's now over $500 a share! That's amazing. Haven't heard anyone touting it as it went from upper $200's all the way to $525 this week.

I haven't eaten there in a while and I'm overdue. I love their fajita burritos.

The fear of missing out gets a lot of people in investing. People leveraging money into bitcoin reminds me of peak dot.com mania I’ve read about.

One year ago (11/15/2017), BTC closed at $7,853.68. One month later (12/15/2017), it closed at 19,345.49. Today (11/15/2017), it closed at 5,629.99. Very big swings for a currency.

I've lost an ungodly amount of money from Jan 1st 2017 (or thereabouts when it was $19,700) to now. Just an absurd amount - at least for me. I was gambling on the long game - and I still think it could be there - but I think so many people were artificially propping up the price of bitcoin in the short term for their own gain. Once wall street got invited to the party - all went to shit.

It could have been even worse, too. I used to be invested 100% in Bitcoin - but I spread myself out a little. So many people were telling me to invest even more in alts. Still 85% in bitcoin and 15% alts but the ****ing alts have been DESTROYED even worse than bitcoin. I threw $11,000 on Binance to **** around with alts in January - it's now worth $400. FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS. And I moved too much to Ethereum and the Ethereum price hasn't maintained as well as bitcoin. I should have just sold it all in January - was quasi rich at one time.

I guess I'll keep holding until it's worth zero

Yeah, the decline during 2018 so far has been very dramatic.

Bitcoin (BTC) opened at 13,444.88 on January 1 and is now around 5,700, a loss of about 4 dollars for every 7.

Ripple (XRP) opened at 2.05 on January 1 and is now down to about 0.46, a loss of about 7 dollars for every 9.

There's a hard fork happening right now and its BCH is having a hash war with others branching off causing a sudden drop in prices since Nov 15th.
