Maroon 5 Set to Perform at 2019 Super Bowl Halftime Show

https://www.billboard.com/articles/n...-halftime-show

Maroon 5 will be headlining the Super Bowl LIII Halftime show, a source confirms to Billboard. While special guest appearances for the performance have not yet been finalized, Cardi B and Travis Scott are on the short list, Billboard has also learned.

A rep for the band did not respond to Billboard's request for comment, but the NFL said in a statement: "It's a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show. We are continuing to work with Pepsi on our plans but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show."

Maroon 5's recent single "Girls Like You" featuring Cardi B is currently No. 2 on the Hot 100.

For Maroon 5, performing during the Super Bowl has been a longtime dream. During a 2015 interview with Howard Stern, Adam Levine admitted that the band “very actively wants to play the Super Bowl.”

The 2019 Super Bowl will take place on Feb. 3 at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga.

No babymetal??? Wow, can't believe they picked a trash act for the 53rd year in a row!! It's like they're not even trying to appeal to their 50 year old white male fanbase with this shit or something.

I'd personally go for a Toby Keith/Nickelback/Bruce Springsteen/Jackyl collaboration; but that's just me.

I'd rather watch a 3D hologram of Prince than Maroon 5

Why does Levine look like he would rock hard, but his band is like a step above Barry Manilow?

Superbowl halftime shows are for women and gay dudes.

I'm not even being glib. That's who it's for.

How many football fans actually watch these things?

Generally acts that demographically target women and gay men don't really catch my radar.

The halftime show is intended to appeal precisely to the type of people who don't LIKE football.

Which is why I don't care. I don't watch this shit anyway. I'm not a 14 year old girl.

But clever comment claiming all NFL fans are 50 year old white dudes edgelord.

Yup. The people who care about it as a social event rather than a sporting event.

I'm not hating. I just see it for what it is.

I hate watching the Super Bowl to be honest. I can't stand the media circus and I work in Advertising. It's disgusting.

I watch the Puppy Bowl at halftime and have never regretted it.

I’ve never watched the halftime show and have missed a lot of the Super Bowls, especially when a bitter Chiefs playoff loss precluded it. I would probably watch it if Slayer performed at halftime, though.

Oh, I thought it was a solo song.

I'm happy to not know Maroon 5 well enough to know that though.
