My wife hates football, and doesn't like the Chiefs because she knows I love them more than I love her.

That said, she cried listening to Carl talk about Derrick and seeing Marty bawling his eyes out. Yeah, I'd say Carl drove it home tonight, and I'm incredibly thankful to that man for making DT a part of MY life as a Chiefs fan.

I got to spend a 1/2 hour after a DT radio show with DT, his friend, Neal Smith and myself talking Chiefs football back in 1996. He stayed for 1.5 hours after the show to sign autogtaphs. After the crowd thinned I asked if I could buy him a beer, he said okay but only if I joined them(DT had a pepsi) One of the coolest memories I have in life.

We were all so worried and flustered that Carl was going to mess this up, and he ends up being the best guy on the stage.
I'll say it; thank you Carl. You made me proud to be a Chiefs fan and proud to love this franchise, team, and every bit of the quiet magic that IS Kansas City.

It was a great final curtain for the old regime, but let's get moving on to Destiny. It's time to **** some shit up. It's time to strike fear in the heads and hearts of every opponent dumb enough to walk on to our field.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that John Elway's bust was found back-down on the floor of the HOF tomorrow morning - Think "A Night at the Museum"

Is there any doubt to anyone that Marty truly loved DT like a son?

I think you can say that for Marty & Carl. I know his voice cracked several times while he was speaking. It wouldn't have surprised me to see Gunther crying too. Was he there?

Carl did acknowledge Gunther and his wife and seemed to motion to a spot in the crowd, but there wasn't any video I saw of Goonther.
