HUSTON THROWS FOR NATIONAL RECORD 824 YARDS IN 69-58 WIN OVER PARKVIEW

Finally Springfield has something to be proud of besides cashew chicken.

Also QBs named Alex FTMFW

Quote:
Springfield, Mo. — Glendale quarterback Alex Huston was nothing more than reserved after setting national high school records in yards (824), completions (70) and attempts (88) in a performance that lifted the Falcons to a wild 69-58 victory over Parkview Friday night.

Reserved about accomplishing what no quarterback in high school history has, saying, “I don’t really look into that stuff.”

And reserved on what this record means to him, saying, “I was just worried about getting the win. That’s all I can say.”

Huston completed 70-of-88 passes for 824 yards, nine touchdowns and two picks, throwing for 443 yards in the first half and 381 in the second. He need say nothing else in a game that saw Glendale produce 856 yards of offense and Parkview 705 for a combined 1,561.

Huston’s 70 completions broke Grant Sherman’s (Kenton, Ohio) previous record 58, set in 2013 under now Glendale coach Mike Mauk. His 88 attempts broke Tyler Hutchinson’s (Greenville, Ill.) 87, year unknown. And his 824 yards broke David Coral’s (Palisades, Calif.) 764 yards, set in 2000. (All according to MaxPreps.)

Huston completed passes to 15 different receivers, finished the first half with seven touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown in the second half that sealed the win with 51 seconds left and the Falcons up just five.
