Still not sure what Veach saw in this kid. Does no one in this organization know defensive talent?

Have no idea what will become of speaks, but it’s not really much of a surprise that Veach is an idiot.

From the sounds of it, that idiot is probably the biggest reason we have our star QB, so he can’t be that stupid.

I think Speaks could be a good DE in a 3/4, which is probably going to be a need next year.

Something tells me it won’t be and people are overreacting to a draft class 4 games into their careers without a 1st round pick.

Veach is definitely not an idiot, even though the Speaks pick doesn’t look good.

I still say there’s a chance they find a way to use him (DE) that makes it look a lot better down the road though.

So far it looks like Chris Ballard was the one capable of drafting defensive players, not anyone else that was in KC.

Speaks just looks like more of the same Dorsey garbage so far, except he isn’t a super athletic player...he’s a slow, fat POS.

I thought the analysis that Veach tried to get too cute or was a little arrogant with his picks trying to be "that guy" was premature. This pick seems more like that though at this point. It's way early of course but as of now there aren't many glimmers to even hang on to.

The glimmer is that the reason it’s failing is pretty obvious and was from the beginning.

The guy more than likely isn’t an OLB. If he’s moved to DE down the line, which Veach and the coaching staff are clearly open to based on what I’ve read, then he might start to flash the stuff you see on his senior tape.

Going back to what I read, Veach understands that the experiment at OLB might not work. He’s just confident that he will find a role and be a good player.

Again, I still don’t like the pick. I think we should’ve went with Bates who I would’ve picked at the time and is playing damn good football day 1.

I’m just saying the doom and gloom on Speak’s future is being overblown. They already started using him inside Monday night. It sucks that we aren’t getting an immediate impact, but Speaks is what he is at this point, a guy playing out of position.

He’s never on the ground, except when he’s on the ground, which so far has been a lot. This is just terribad.

He looks like an undersized DL who has no idea what he’s doing.
