With this group of guys, blitzing all the time will only ensure that the opposing offense will score every drive.

You guys act like we actually LOST the last two games. We didn't. You may not like it, but the defense did just enough to WIN.

Blitz blitz blitz isn't the way it works in the NFL anymore. Defense fundamentally begins with generating pressure from your front.

If it were just Murray getting picked on or something, shuffling the deck chairs in the secondary might help. When the whole unit is weak, asking them to do more isn't going to make things better.

Yah ...

This isn't sack city any more. It just isn't. Based on the roster we have, the Chiefs have to play a different kind of defense ... it's not as "exciting", but it also doesn't need to be in order to win.

It's also probably worth remembering that a lot of these guys are new-ish to Sutton's defense. Ragland and Hitchens didn't get a lot of reps during camp or PS, two of the corners are basically learning the defense on the fly, and Parker just walked in a couple of days before the first game.

Plus, we've played away games in high heat against some pretty good QBs and skill players. The defense will improve.

He's been sucking balls so far this season but this statement is completely untrue.

Accounting for his absurdly high percentage of coverage snaps, he was a top 10 pass rusher last season.

Now we are back to hoping that shuffling the scheme will somehow make the personnel do things they aren't capable of doing.

It's about talent, and there isn't enough of it this year.
Keep moving the goalposts instead of defending your initial statement, I guess.

Yeah but if you aren't getting pressure from your front four you have to get it some where that or sit back and let teams pick you apart. I would prefer the former than the latter.

Another great post.

You know, people act like Orlando Scandrick is a scrub too, when in reality, he's not. He's a serviceable corner that came into came in the middle of preseason and had to adjust.

He's currently rating out above average according to PFF and has in the past as well.

Absurdly high? You do realize that he still rushed the passer on 3 out of every 4 snaps right?

This idea that Houston is spending half of his time in coverage is pure 100% recall bias, not reality.

Taking people out of coverage and asking the incapable defenders in the secondary to do even more than they can just barely do now will just accelerate the speed at which the other team scores.
