They are not good, but we've also gone against two HoF caliber QBs that were throwing for their life all game trying to keep up with Mahomes and co. They are not as bad as they look even without Berry.

Seriously! This defense sucks and just allowing QBs all day to throw is the last thing you do. Maybe don’t go all out with aggressiveness early in games but as it goes on, yes you do

I had a feeling the D was going to be bad when the Bears backups went up and down the field in the 3rd preseason game against our starters. It was embarrassing and it has continued into the season. I honestly don't foresee it getting much better.

It isn't. I've acknowledged over and over that this defense is terrible. Literally said a dozen times "they suck".

That being said, they've done just enough to WIN and you guys want to do nothing but bitch. Have you stopped for one minute and given thought to the idea that if they changed what they are doing, it might actually be WORSE? That they might actually be 0-2 instead of 2-0?

Pointing the defense being historically bad isn’t bitching. It’s called a discussion board. We’re discussing what we should do on defense. Just sitting back and letting Ben get into a rhythm is how you blow leads, like 21-0 and other years

And when LA scores in 15 seconds instead of almost 8 minutes, that game is completely different.

That is the fundamental point, Mr. htismaqe.

The car is broken. A new driver isn't going to significantly change the RPMs.

The notion that Sutton (or anyone else, for that matter) can magically improve the roster's talent relies on a belief in the supernatural. Not saying the metaphysical doesn't exist, but it rarely works when you want it to.

Allen Bailey's sack happened on a play where they rushed 3 and dropped 8.

Conner's pass right up the gut for 22 happened when they rushed 6.

The blanket statement that they played "better" when they blitzed simply isn't true. It's recall bias - people seeing what they wanted to see.

Yes, let's put all the blame on the GM who's had one real real offseason to fix the defense with the handicaps of having to trade away an All Pro talent at CB and no first rounder, and completely absolve the DC whose units have a proven track record of collapsing and giving away big leads at the most innoportune times in the most important games.

It was pretty much acknowledge by the Chiefs they kept Sutton this year because they didn't blame him because the talent wasn't that good. So they have switched out over half the defensive starters and they are worse than last year.

Is that Veach's fault or maybe Sutton sucks? I mean he has been in charge of some of the largest defensive meltdowns in playoff history.

It's a personnel problem that has been neglected for too long, and now we're seeing it in full bloom. There aren't any midseason fixes for it.

Sutton generally sucks, IMO, but he's doing about all that can be asked of him right now. He is setting the defense up to just try to slow the other team down, to require them to sustain long drives, to give them chances to make mistakes or commit penalties that can allow the defense to get off the field some of the time.

That's about all he can do with the personnel he has been given.

If you look at the San Diego game, they dropped a lot of passes that would have been devastating big gains, if not touchdowns. Some teams, if you give them enough opportunities they will screw things up on their own. If he were sending 6 or 7 guys every down they'd just be scoring on half as many snaps and have fewer opportunities to get in their own way.

He's being asked to hold off the Persian army with 300 reeruns, and you can put vintage Buddy Ryan, Jim Johnson, Monte Kiffin, Landry, Parmenion, the Duke of Wellington and whomever else you want on the sideline and it isn't going to happen
