IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

I can now watch the 30 for 30 film “Elway to Marino” without wanting to throw something.

Watching Bill Polian on 30 for 30 made me think of this.

https://www.thebiglead.com/2018/10/0...webb-over-him/

Bill Polian, the living illustration of old man yelling at clouds, said that he would take A.J. McCarron over any of the quarterbacks in the 2017 NFL Draft. Reminder: that includes Patrick Mahomes, DeShaun Watson (who has thrown 26 touchdown passes in 10 starts), and Mitch Trubisky. Meanwhile, McCarron couldn’t beat out Nathan Peterman (also a later round pick from the 2017 NFL Draft) who is one of the worst opening day starters of all-time.

Bill Polian is a HOF GM. He never "discovered" a QB.

Jim Kelly was already drafted by Buffalo and seasoned in the USFL when Polian took over. Polian did convince Kelly to finally join Buffalo (Did Kelly have a choice?).

He drafted Peyton Manning over Ryan Leaf with 1st overall pick. Good but most GMs would have. Manning had that pedigree.

And he drafted Kerry Collins with a top pick in Carolina.

I think Polians issue with QBs recently is that the ideas for scouting QBs 30 years ago don't work so well now.

I think a lot of NFL evaluators have that issue. They have seen QBs inside this specific little box for years, and the game has changed. If you’re innovative enough, you can make a lot of different types of QBs work and develop a lot of guys.

I said, at the time, we’d have won going away if Smith got the concussion instead of Kelce.

I was on here after the Chiefs lost to Buffalo at Arrowhead telling everyone that Mahomes should start vs the Jets.

They’d have beaten the Jets & finished the season 5-0 with an 11-5 record & gotten the 3rd seed. They would have beaten Buffalo & also the Steelers but lost to the Patriots in the championship game.

I believe with that extra experience that Mahomes would have had a better start & the Chiefs would have won the Super Bowl last season.

Who would you rather start a Franchise with Mahomes or Jackson...

1st caller "Jackson, cuz Mahomes is just that guy that's getting older and he'll just be kinda around ya know. Mahomes Might take them to the playoffs but that's it."

Ya it's a slow news day so I had to post something this stupid haha!

Mahomes is practically a 33 year old veteran quarterback. Never mind the fact that he’s younger than Watson and Baker
