Funny you should ask. The moon is also flat according to this brilliant scientific mind srvy considers a source.

So this guy is a nut I didn't read about what he believes I searched some articles and read that one and posted it. Still the theories he pulled together from different sources is interesting.

Do you think the earth is like the globe you had in science class Saul?

Its not a globe or sphere or ellipsoid. A Geiod and here is an image of of the actual mapped surface of the earth.

You mean it's not a perfect sphere? I suspect even the dumbest among us understand that. Probably even loneiguana.

lol...no.

An explanation from the source of your hot linked image.

And the article explaining it further from BBC found in the same article.

JFC.... can you get anything correct here? That's not an image of the actual mapped surface of the earth. A geoid is a representation of the surface of the earth that it would assume if the sea covered the earth, also known as surface of equal gravitational potential. It's a method to calculate surface elevations. It is not a representation of the shape of the Earth's crust.

You're awesome.
What's funny is that you brought this "Earth is not perfectly round" thing up pretty much out of nowhere---no one was arguing otherwise--and you've managed to appear even more ****ing idiotic than we previously thought.

I actually feel bad for him. He completely showed his ass and got called on it. Realizing his credibility was pretty much shot, he decided to drop some serious knowledge on the board...really blow our minds with scientific knowledge.

He was going for Bill Nye the Science Guy. He wound up Wile E. Coyote...Super Genius.

When I want to know what a tulip would look like in a certain vase maybe I would call you.

I know you have no idea what that is but you will google and try to act as though you do.

And yes it is an gravity map of the earth that is used every day to to accurately position points on the surface of the earth. The earth and gravitational effects on its surface makes it look like a Potato. The Geoid is a imaginary line per say drawn around this surface to negate the peeks and valleys of that surface and to use complex mathematical calculations so we can use satellites (GPS) to map and navigate the surface. This is in layman's terms as I am not trained in Geodesy just a land surveyor who applies this in real life.
