Blow This Mofo Up Mock (12/13)

Sign:
Malcolm Butler, CB (NE)
Butler is a premier corner in the NFL, sticking in coverage to his man, following elite receivers, and making plays on the football. He's also solid in run support, unlike Marcus Peters.
(reference J. Norman, X. Rhodes, P. Peterson)
5 years, $70.0 million, $15 million signing bonus, $35 million guaranteed
~ $11.0 million 2018

Christian Jones, ILB (CHI)
(reference V. Williams, D. Bates, C. Robertson, etc)
3 years, $8 million, $1.5 million signing bonus
~ $2.0 million 2018

Quinton Dial, DL (GB)
(reference Z. Hood, M. Unrein)
2 years, $2.3 million, $300k signing bonus
~ $1.0 million 2018

Justin Coleman, CB (SEA)
(reference J. Bademosi, M. Sherels)
2 years, $4 million, $1.5 million guaranteed
~ $1.5 million 2018

Denico Autry, DE/OLB (OAK)
(reference C. Washington, B. Mayowa)
2 years, $5.8 million, $1.5 million guaranteed
~ $2.2 million 2018

DaQuan Jones, DE (TEN)
(reference C. Heyward, C. Liuget, M. Daniels, D. Wolfe, etc)
4 years, $42 million, $13 million guaranteed
~ $7.5 million 2018

Trey Burton, TE (PHI)
(reference L. Toilolo, M. Lewis, etc)
3 years, $12 million, $5 million guaranteed
~$3.5 million 2018

Total: ~ $28.7 million 2018

Re-Sign:
Anthony Sherman, FB
(reference P. DiMarco)
4 years, $8.5 million, $2 million signing bonus
~ $2 million 2018

Tyler Bray, QB
(reference R. Griffen, K. Clemens, B. Weeden, C. Daniel, etc)

~ $1.2 million 2018

Zach Fulton, OL
(reference T. Larson, M. Slauson, T. Johnson, etc)
3 years, $5.8 million
~ $1.8 million 2018

Rakeem Nunez-Roches, DL
RFA Tender Original Round
~ $1.8 million 2018

Terrance Smith, ILB
ERFA Tender
~$630k 2018

Kevin Pierre-Louis, ILB
(a Zombo-esque deal)
3 years, $3.6 million, $600k guaranteed
~ $1.2 million 2018

Albert Wilson, WR
(reference R. Shepard, M. Goodwin, T. Gabriel, D. Inman, etc)
3 years, $10 million, $2 million guaranteed
~ $2.3 million 2018

Jarvis Jenkins, DE
1 year, $790k

Total: ~ $11.7 million 2018

Total Cap Space needed: $40.4 + $5 million buffer + $3 million effective draft = $48.4 million

Let walk:

LB R. Wilson (RFA)
WR D. Thomas
DB T. Mitchell
DB S. Terrell
DB K. Acker
DB P. Gaines
DL R. Miller
OL J. Devey
OL Z. Fulton
SP D. Colquitt

Other Transactions:

Trade Alex Smith, QB ($17 million cap space)
Chiefs trade QB Alex Smith to Jacksonville for a 3rd round selection in the 2018 draft and conditional 4th round pick in the 2019 draft. Jacksonville is in win now mode and their problems start and end at QB. Smith is a steady, reliable QB that doesn't turn the ball over (contrary to what they get from Bortles) and Tom Coughlin should favor bringing that into the fold if possible.
Trade Marcus Peters, CB ($1.7 million cap space)
Chiefs trade CB Marcus Peters to Los Angeles Rams for a 2nd round selection in the 2018 draft. The Rams may lose FA CB Trumaine Johnson. They can get a young, cheaper, replacement for the next 2 seasons and Peters can be closer to Chokeland.
Retire/Release Derrick Johnson, ILB ($8 million cap space)
Retire/Release Tamba Hali, OLB ($7 million cap space)
Release Demetrius Harris, TE ($2 million cap space)
Release Allen Bailey, DE ($6 million cap space)
Release Ron Parker, S ($5 million cap space)
Release Charcandrick West, RB ($1.7 million cap space)

Total Cap Space Gained: $49.4 million

Other Selection Notes:
Chiefs traded 2018 1st round selection to Buffalo for the 10th selection in the 2017 draft.
Chiefs traded 2018 5th round selection to Cleveland for Cameron Erving (OL)
Chiefs receive 2018 conditional 7th* round selection from Seattle for Isaiah Battle (OL). *Presumed 7th since Seattled traded their 6th round selection to Oakland in the deal for Marshawn Lynch.
Chiefs receive 2018 conditional 7th round selection from Arizona for Marcus Cooper (CB)
Chiefs receive 2018 conditional 7th round selection from Tennesee for David King (DL)
Chiefs traded 2018 7th round selection to San Francisco for Kenneth Acker (CB)

Draft:

2. Isaiah Wynn, OL, Georgia (6'2" 300)
2. (LAR/Peters) Mike Hughes, CB, Central Florida (5'11' 190)
3. Lorenzo Carter, DE, Georgia (6'6" 245)
3. (JAX/Smith) Armani Watts, FS, Texas A&M (5'11" 195)

ILB:, R. Ragland, C. Jones, U. Eligwe, K. Pierre-Louis, T. Smith
CB: M. Butler, D. Revis M. Hughes, S. Nelson, J. Coleman, D. Nichols
DB: E. Berry, A. Watts, D. Sorensen, E. Murray, A. Sherrils

Not sure I could expect 4 big-time transactions (acquire Butler and Jones, trade Peters and Smith) in one offseason, but at this juncture I'm gonna put some hope into it.

Bailey is just inconsistent. Every game or so he's usually good for a big play. Other than that, he doesn't do much for our line.

If a better option comes around, I'm all for that

Again Fulton has built a nice resume, especially at center. CP sees his value at center, and yet he's going to sign a 3 years, $5.8 million contract.

LOL

He's going to average 4M a year

So, even though the Chiefs don't consider him the best center on their own team, you think the NFL is going to consider him in the top third of centers in the NFL and pay him as such? I dunno man. Kudos to him is he gets that. If he gets that kind of offer, I think it'd be similar to Wisniewski's 3 years 8 million with incentives to get it to 14 mill.

My main point is that we under value guys like Fulton. We did it with LDT and we did it with Hudson. Yeah he’s a 6th round pick but all the kid has done is start double digit games every season for a good franchise that wins more than it loses. I get that we would love nothing more than to get a deal on his next contract, he’ll who wouldn’t. But we see his value around here as a center in this league, and let’s not pretend other front offices do either.

Love Trey Burton. He’s a dynamic WR/TE mix that fits perfectly in this system. I would like to get him in FA.

Basically we have 3 priorities this spring:

1. Add another weapon on offense in the event one of Kelce, Hunt, Hill gets hurt.
2. Add another pass rusher to the front 7.
3. Clean up good but not great parts of the team (i.e. OL, S)

Week 17 would be a great test to see what our depth receivers and tight ends currently on the roster can do with Mahomes. That'll help to clear up the offseason plan somewhat, although Denver presents a great test for the WRs.

The fact we were in on Britt tells me Veach is not pleased with the production at WR behind Hill. Not sure going with another rookie will cut it as Conley, Robinson and Chesson have yet to establish their presence. Some decent free agent receivers will be a available.

Want to make a real splash in free agency?

Go get Muhammed Wilkerson. No way the Jets keep him.
