This is pretty much where I'm at.

Honestly, I'd say the best watch of the last 4 or 5 years was "The Devil's Candy."

It was buzzing on youtube so I gave it a try (low expectations) and it delivered.

It'd have to go back over a decade to where I was as impressed with a low budget film (The United States Of Leeland or Donnie Darko.)

Enjoyed Jumanji, pretty damn funny. Not really a Kevin Hart fan, but he was good.

downsizing wasn't horrible....so...but the movie could have been a lot better had it not changed tones halfway through.

Yeah that scene ****ed me up. Any desire I ever had to be a cowboy went right down the poot-chute.

anyone seen "Get Out"?

wow...I really liked it. I had zero idea what it was about - I just saw that Jordan Peele wrote and directed it so I DVR'd it. Totally was NOT what I was expected lol.

I thought it was awesome.

Get Out was probably my favorite movie of 2017. Off the top of my head the only competition was Logan.

Audience reactions to Get Out were ****ing awesome.

I just watched A Monster Calls on HBO and really enjoyed it. It’s about a boy whose mother is dying of cancer and his struggles to come to grips with it. I had no expectations when I started so that probably helped.

Not "new" movies per se - I watched American Made and The Foreigner recently.

American Made was good, not great. Liked it, but glad I didn't pay full theater prices for it. Crazy story, though. And Domhnall Gleeson was great as Schafer. Check it out if you're bored.

The Foreigner was surprisingly good. Jackie Chan was great as the anti-hero, and Pierce Brosnan did a great job in his role. Liked that way more than I thought I would.

Yeah, that sounds heavy. I'd have to be in a certain movie for a flick like that.

Both of those have been on my watch list so thanks for the reminder . Esp American Made. Looking forward to seeing Cruise in a film where its not based on a franchise .

The director is someone to keep an eye on. He also directed Bone Tomahawk which was great too.
I like the director of these movies as well, he brings something different in these movies. I get tired of the same story arc and plots in the action genre, but this movie was very different. Very well done and excellent supporting cast and I liked the music choice as well.

“Dragged across concrete” is the next movie for Zahler, Vaughn and Mel Gibson are starring and similar cast to Brawl in Cellblock 99.
