Space Exploration megathread

Since a number of cool things are happening in space exploration these days, we'll widen the scope of this thread a smidge. Conversation about all things space exploration are welcome, whether it be from NASA, SpaceX, ULA, Blue Origin, or anyone else. Chances are most of the discussion will still be about SpaceX since they love to make things public and fun, but nothing's off limits. I'll eventually get around to modifying the OP to include resources for other companies too, but in the meantime, feel free to post any cool stuff you run across.

Small window next lap. Looks like for my view it will start in the West around Denver/Cheyenne area and end in the Oklahoma City/Dallas area.

Caught it! We had a ton of haze, but the clouds broke just enough to catch ISS, and after staring a bit my wife noticed Dragon out maybe 5-10 seconds (10 degrees?) in front. I've tried a few times and failed, so super cool to see it with Bob and Doug on board.

Awesome. We were not able to find the Dragon on either pass. Not dark enough the first pass, and patch cloud cover would have hampered the second pass. I did catch them both back in late May or early June though... also about 10 degrees apart. That was quite a sight!

Yeah, that timeline was super informative.

Trunk separation will be the start of the "exciting" stuff. Coming up at 1:51pm EDT. It'll take about an hour from that point until they're in the water.

Kind of a late addition from Tim, but here's a 30-minute video with details about the entire splashdown sequence if anyone's interested in something to burn some time before the fun starts.

I was kind of expecting cameras on the trunk, if not Dragon itself, to see the separation and burn. Maybe I'm spoiled...

Yeah, I was hoping we'd get more video. You're right, we're spoiled.

I bet we'll get video later.

Yeah, they need to come up with some visuals to show for this part. Kind of hard to stay excited when all you get is a narrator.
