Oh they get into it man, I spent a lot of my childhood watching pro bowling on ESPN2 after midnight on weekends. Those bastards can't get enough of it.

The movie Kingpin seemed to change the crowd, as well as the bowler's personalities coming out.

I grew up watching bowling on Sundays on ABC in the late 70s and early 80s.......and none of the bowlers ever did much, and the fans were pretty mellow.
