It’s not a routine, more of a common procedure. Same basic procedure to deal with a collapsed lung. It will endanger your life but you can fix what could go wrong rather easily and quickly in a hospital environment. But, of course what made it dangerous was being on the sidelines without the ability to deal with stuff that could go wrong. You can function with one lung for awhile.
