I've seen him in concert, and you're wrong.

I wouldn't walk across the street to watch the actual group Queen without Freddie, but Martel will be back with his Queen cover band next year and I'm going to go see him again.

When I say queen, I mean queen with Freddie. Queen died when he died.

Mostly I agree with you. I don't want to see Boston without Delp, Journey without Perry, Queensryche without Tate, or Foreigner without Graham. But I've seen Martel, and he makes the grade. Short of a time machine, you won't do any better.

And whether this movie is good or not, Martel looks a hell of a lot more like Freddie than Snafu from The Pacific does.

That's the beauty of it all though music is subjective so there is no right or wrong. That said based on what I've heard I personally wouldn't go see Martel either.

If and it's a big IF I were even thinking about seeing a Queen cover band it would be Gary Mullen and the Works

They're.... okay, I guess. He seems to capture the essence of Freddie's stage persona. But when it comes to actually singing, he couldn't hold Martel's mic stand.

Okay I've had a chance to listen to numerous Martel videos and while very good my ears still prefer Mullen as he has that guttural sound like Freddie especially on Save Me and Hammer To Fall.

Either way I'd think we both agree there will never be another Freddie and personally I'm just thankful I got to see Queen live twice before his passing.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this, I guess. To me, Martel is the closest thing to Freddie we'll ever get. And remember, he was the guy the actual surviving Queen band members picked to be in the official tribute band. It's a shame that they didn't pick him to join the actual band. While it was never actually said, I assume his straight/Christian background probably has much to do with that.

The other guy sounds like karaoke Freddie. He'd be great in a bar for free, but I'm not paying to watch him.
