*** Brett Veach Appreciation Thread ***

I haven't started a thread in many years, but I was thinking this morning (after searching to find one of these type of threads on here) about the Chris Jones scenario. And it would seem to me based on what we know about Veach and Reid, that we shouldn't be concerned.

The ability this team now has to find and develop talent is OTHERWORLDLY.

Chris Jones is an AMAZING talent, but what's the difference between $25m and $30m at the end of the day? Not THAT much. He's set. Jones is just pissed off that the Chiefs didn't sign Frank Clark, so he's being a bitch about it.

But Brett Veach ALWAYS finds a great talent to replace whoever is in there.

He found Patrick Mahomes II and begged the Chiefs to draft him.

The way he assembles teams is something we've never seen in KC and maybe never before seen even in the NFL. And he was born in 1977, IIRC.

So, In Veach I Trust. He will be a pro football Hall of Famer, IMO.

What are some of your favorite things that Veach has done that you'd like to thank him about?

Didn't Dorsey want more power/control when negotiating his next contract and made it a decision between him and Reid? Or am I just making this up?

I do know that people just hate working with the guy, that much I think has been pretty well documented.

Draft - L'Jarius Sneed, Willie Gay, Trey Smith, Creed Humphrey, Nick Bolton, Isaiah Pacheco.

Free Agency - Frank Clark, Tyrann Mathieu, Joe Thuney Orlando Brown Jr, Justin Reid, JJSS, MVS

Thats not including the multitude of solid role players that contributed to us winning, as well as multiple young guys/newly signed free agents that haven't proved themselves.

Dorsey was a good drafter.

of course, Veach was his head scout, no?

But Dorsey was shit at cap management, and is apparently such an asshole that nobody wants to work with him, despite being a really good personnel guy.

So whatever.

This guy picked a very odd Dorsey-ish hill to die upon.

It's wild that a guy who drafted Mahomes, Hill, Kelce and Jones gets so little credit. I'd much rather have Veach but JFC those draft picks are insane and absolutely essential to our SBs.

I agree Veach is an all-round better GM and any sustained success is on him. But I'm happy to give that insufferable p**** Dorsey his dues as well.

A QB was not just dumped in Andy Reid's lap. Then he was told to develop him. With out Reid's input, giving up the picks and Andy's time to work with him. Hunt's money. The GM at the time is not relevant

I mean, I agree in so much as I think the importance of Veach is a distant 3rd to Reid and Mahomes (though obviously credit is due re his role in the 2nd). I think last year is where he gets most of the kudos simply because of Mahomes' cap hit. Building a roster that's good enough around that ain't easy. Maybe the roster was only good enough because of Reid's wizardry and Mahomes' greatness, but it was good enough, and that was his job.
