*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Didn't Mahomes start and win one game his rookie season? Marino started 9 games and won 7 his rookie year. Mahomes won the SB in the third season of his career.

How many games Mahomes won his first season in the league will be a great jeopardy question twenty years from now.

Looking at that & one name shocked me...Don Strock?

I knew the early 80’s Dolphins were good(Killer B’s) but that’s crazy.

Why did Shula like Woodley over Strock? You’d have thought that playoff game vs the Chargers would have convinced him.

A few interesting things from that link (with the caveat that it's only 1970 and later):

1. The only Chiefs quarterback with a better winning percentage than Mahomes (.778) is Nick Foles (1-0 in one start). (Note: small sample size for Foles so he may not hold up in the long run against Mahomes.)

2. Mahomes has a better postseason winning percentage (.800) than regular season winning percentage (.774)

3. Brodie Croyle's 0-10 record may never be broken. The second worst record, depending on how you categorize it, is a tie between Frank Seurer and Matt Stevens at 0-2, or Tyler Thigpen at 1-10. But at least Tyler got to taste the sweet nectar of victory once. (I really thought we were better under Thigpen, though. I thought he was not that far from .500 if you had asked me before this.)

4. Every 49ers castoff had a winning record for the Chiefs, but the winningest ex-49er was Steve Bono (.656). You follow him with Montana (.655), Alex Smith (.630), Steve Deberg (.591), and Grbac (.542).

5. The most successful road quarterback for the Chiefs was Kyle Orton (1-0 for a 1.000 winning percentage. Second place is Patrick Mahomes (13-4 for a .765 winning percentage) (Note: small sample size for Orton so he may have a lesser long run legacy than Mahomes.)

6. Steve Fuller would have been successful if he'd been drafted by a team with a different stadium. He was 9-8 in road games and 4-10 at Arrowhead. On the other hand, Todd Blackledge was 10-5 at home and 3-7 on the road.

7. Mahomes has a postseason record of 4-1 (with the one loss being totally bogus). All other Chiefs quarterbacks combined since 1970 have a postseason record of 4-16.
