I don't think anybody on this board said a word about Mahomes being black when he was drafted. Most people on this board wanted a white QB (Alex Smith) replaced by Mohomes. No one gave a shit about Mahomes color.

Also, running QB's don't last long in the NFL. Do you not hold your breath when Mahomes runs with it? Look at Cam Newton. Look at Kapernick (though he had no throwing accuracy either.) Look at Vick. Look at RGIII.

People have been saying this for about 30 years now. There have always been athletic fast QB's and they've never 'taken over' the NFL. McNabb and Vick were supposed to usher in a whole new era. That didn't' really happen. Then the read option was going to make athletic QB's the default. That didn't happen.

The NFL revolutionizes athletic QB's, not the other way around. Mahomes is great because he's awesome at what a QB needs to be awesome at: Throwing the football. His mobility is just gravy on an already stacked meal.

Are we going to talk about athleticism of the QB position, which is interesting, or are we just going to talk about melanin levels of said QB's?

There are no black QB's on a par with Brady/Montana/Rodgers/Brees/Marino/Peyton, so no I don't think we are better. What I think is QB's need to put more stress on a defense in todays game, and being able to move around, pick up that third and 7 with their legs is where the game is going and we see it with who is coming out of the NCAA, and the HS's.

What we see are the natural consequence of 30 years of not discriminating against black QB's after decades of doing exactly that.

Obviously the numbers would level off. Black QB's in college and HS aren't new.

The QB position will always favor the guys who are the best at throwing the football. ALWAYS.
