Strouds fried chicken

A few months back, while in KC, my relatives took me to a dumpy old joint called Strouds that looked like it was converted from a house. Despite the exterior, the inside was hospitable. They had the best damn fried chicken I've ever eaten, and serve enough food to make Whitlock uncomfortable. I know the next time I'm in town, I'll desperately be searching for that place.

Has anyone else ever eaten there? Are they famous in town for their chicken, or am I just sheltered?

I've never made fried chicken in my entire life, but I'd put my first effort at fried chicken up against a chunk of Strouds' any day. Seriously.

It wasn't shitty. It was overrated. The batter was bland and the meat dried out. I'm supremely confident I could do better.

What did you have in your mouth earlier that day?

Strouds used to have another slogan before "we choke our own chickens,"

something like, "The only people that don't like Strouds pan-fried chicken are those that smoke pole-NTTAWT".

For some reason, I brought a piece home with me. You can come get it for free. I paid about $8 for it.

The one in the Northland is infinitely better. The fumes from all the neighboring meth houses ads to the flavor.

$8, would you take a post dated check?

I might have to have R&Ghomer's sugar daddy COChief wire some cash Western Union or Pony Express pronto.

I know the time we had it, it wasn't anywhere close to dry. The breasts were like biting into, um, something that's commonly thought to be very juicy.

I also know we went at an odd time where it wasn't very busy, so maybe we were lucky to get fresh, and you got some that had been sitting.
