Oh you could probably get him to leave $5 million on the table this year....if you gave him another $12 million over the following 2.

It's Berry's right, but "**** you, pay me" should be his foundations motto at this point.

I agree. I think Hitchens, Ragland and Fuller are still attempting to get their "Sutton legs" of this defense underneath them (whatever that means) and I think they will get better and then when Berry and Soro get back this should provide 'just enough key stops' in a game for us to outscore the majority of our opponents. If we can just get this defense to "average play" we will be fine. And of course keeping the injuries to a minimum.

I'm not sure how much good it would do to upgrade our CB position if we can't find a way to put more pressure on the QB. We've invested two second round draft picks the last two years (KPass and Speaks) and we still can't pressure the QB.

Had we not drafted K-Pass and Speaks to be terrible the last 2 years I'd consider it, but you're trending down Seahawks Road if you start burning up draft capital for quick fixes.

If we want a 2 year window and then a long time of praying that Mahomes doesn't get murdered while throwing to substandard weapons behind a frayed OL, sure - do that. I'm not interested. We need to keep our draft capital and keep shooting our shots.

Veach simply has to do a better job of using those picks, though.
They need those 3 high rounders next year. Those are gonna be 3 top 70ish picks. That's a major cheap talent infusion to an already young team.

You come out of that with a badass DL, a nice solid corner and a good all around safety and we're in business.

I actually agree with the philosophy Veach employed this year.

-pass rush is the most important piece to a defense. Broncos, Jags and Eagles defenses were so good bc they had a great pass rush with quality depth to rotate players and stay fresh. Veach mentioned this specifically.
-best way to slow down an elite offense is to keep them off the field. Running the ball is the best way to do that and control the clock.
-we need speed in the middle of the field with sure tackling. O’Daniel looked like a great prospect to fix that problem.

So far only Nnandi has been a good player, but it’s still early. I don’t think many, if any, 3rd rd rookies are seeing the field much.

I think we’ll see more of them in the 2nd half of the season.
If pass rush was so important, why did he spend the first two picks on a run stuffer and nickel linebacker?

No thanks for 2 2nds. Are you guys nuts?

For a single second you could probable end up with Earl Thomas.

If I'm trading with the Cardinals, Id be very interested in Reddick to pair with Hitchens and Ragland.
Right? In what world is a 28 yr old cornerback on a scale deal worth 2 seconds?

I'd maybe give a 3rd and that's probably an overpay.

They aren't gonna be good for a while and mid season trades aren't exactly that high.

Frankly at this point I wouldn't really move much for anyone. Football isn't really plug and play like baseball or basketball.

Agree on Hitchens and Fuller, not on Ragland.

He played last year. He's just not very good.

Part of the reason they don't get pressure is because the DB's can't cover.

A good pass rush helps out coverage but the inverse is also true, good coverage can help a pass rush.

There were a couple of occasions on Sunday where the Chiefs got pressure despite only rushing 3 or 4 because the DBs locked everything down.

I think they view Speaks a lot better than most here do.

He looks over weight and slow for an OLB at this point. I'm hopeful they have some packages to kick him inside this year.

I am pretty much done with the 34 OLB spot. It's just hard as shit for this team to find guys that can do it. Lets just go to a 43 and find some DE's.

What gives you any confidence they'll come out of that with anything other than 3 more role-players that can't get on the field?
