Downtown KC Hotel Recommendations?

Looking at several different spots downtown. Over the years, I've stayed just about everywhere in KC, but I'm wondering if anyone has a couple of good recommendations. Thanks everyone!

The Sheraton is nice. Met some really friendly people last time I was in that area.

Each to their own but both of those to me look ghastly and tacky. If I'm staying in a hotel I want a nice, historic facade and reception/lounge/bar area with a modern, comfortable room.

Yeah, it doesn’t look like my kind of place either, but I do appreciate their address as listed on their website:

CHATEAU AVALON HOTEL SPA AND LOUNGE
701 Village West Pkwy,
Kansas, KS, 66111, USA

Good ole Kansas, Kansas.
