4k TV

In the next year I am looking to buy a 4k TV. One that plays Xbox 1x on 4k. I don't know where exactly to start researching but I would sit post in the mean time. What I know so far is I am fine with my TV now bit I am a gamer and want the best but not stupid expensive. I know there are obstacles to getting Xbox one x to run 4k. Any advice or sarcasm is greatly appreciated. Thanks and go **** yourself.

I'm in the same boat Penz.

How much do you want to spend?

You can get an OLED 55" for around 1500 with various deals going on now. If you're getting it for gaming make sure the input lag on the tv is low

If your internet provider utilizes bandwidth caps and charges for data, you will not want to stream anything in 4k or your internet bill will be expensive as ****.

Just something to keep in mind for all of you shoppers.
Many people have 4k TV's and can't even utilize them.

I have several Changhong 4K tvs and they are great, no stupid bells and buzzers but great pictures and sound. Very closely rated to mentioned TCL. The early ones were 60Hz enhanced sets and my newest is enhanced 120Hz. Changhong is all but gone now.

Stay away from 60Hz and 120HZ refresh rates and serious gamers swear to stay away from effective or enhanced 240Hz sets but it depends on your budget and how hard core you may be. My family room set is 240HZ enhanced and I very seldom see any lag. It's a big step up to true 240HZ sets.
Effective Refresh Rate is not a bad thing but you have to look at refresh rates and that's not easy.

My go to site is http://www.rtings.com and avs forums.com

If your in the 2K range for a 55" the Costco deal below is worth looking into, if you want to spend 1K look at the top 2.I tossed in another one in the $1500 range. All three of the top units have 129 enhanced ratings with great refresh ratings

Take a look at these for starters:
Under 1K

https://www.samsung.com/us/televisio...n55mu8000fxza/
under1K

https://www.vizio.com/p55e1.html

Under $1.5 K going on sale
https://www.costco.com/Vizio-65"-Class-(64.5"-Diag.)-4K-Ultra-HD-XLED-Pro-Home-Theater-Display.product.100370312.html

under2K on black friday sale pricing Member only

From what I saw it is NOT a straight 120Hz machine. it is a 60Hz bumped to emulate a 120Hz unit

Quote:
The P-Series uses a combination of advanced back light scanning to enhance the native refresh rate of the LCD panel (60Hz or 60 frames per second) and present an effective refresh rate (what your eye sees) of 120Hz, or 120 frames per second. This is why you see the different specs listed - but the result is a smooth, blur free image, perfect for fast moving sports or video games, without any signal processing artifacts.

Hope this helps,
TCL USA Support
The TCL is a top of the line picture and basic feature TV. It is well above the same spec units from Samsung, LG, and Vizio.

Faster still are true 240HZ and 120HZ enhanced OLED screens which are stupid fast.

I recommend getting a set that is 120Hz enhanced thet will give you rating similaa to these:

80% Response Time
3.0- 4.0ms
100% Response Time
10-11 ms

The TCL specs are decent at:
80% Response Time
6.3 ms
100% Response Time
14.4 ms

Dane, Depending on gaming activity 120Hz rating is nominal but if it works for you... FYI. Make sure you inspect the edge lighting... See white? lots of complaints on this on TCL units.

Probably won't be much help, but I got a 4K TV very soon after they came out. I have a 65'', LG 4K Smart TV, bought a Microcenter for $999. Fantastic picture. Just not alot of stuff out in 4K but I like to watch those guys in Wingsuits fly through the mountains. Amazon Prime has some 4k content now.

Would really like to find a 75''+ for less than $1500 someday.

There's at least one dumbass here that would have you believe the human eye cant distinguish the difference between 4k and 1080p. Dont listen to said dumbass.

4k streaming isn't great. The bitrate is too low.

But if you play a game or watch a 4k movie on an actual Blu Ray disc it's absolutely stunning.

There used to be tons of dumbasses that would try to convince us we couldn't tell the difference between 720i and 1080p. You can definitely tell the difference between 4K and 1080p especially if it is on a large TV. It depends what the content is but you certainly can.

If you have a 32'' TV, well then it probably won't make that much difference. If you have a 55''+ it definitely will.

Agreed. Just wanted to point out that just because DirecTV and DISH are claiming to broadcast in 4K, doesn't mean you are going to be watching everything in 4K when you have an ISP bandwidth cap. If you spend the money on a 4k TV, also expect to spend the money on buying 4K blurays.

My first 4K unit was 42" and side by side the difference was amazing. My largest is a 65" and it's picture is fantastic. Gaming: Not so good

Newegg was the last US retailer as the name said "YUGO" and should have been named anything else. They are China's largest TV exporter since the 1950's but no longer available in the US.
