I just don't even understand how bad the d is... is it scheme or personnel? They are constantly getting run through without a man touching the ball carrier.

It's not really either. It's terrible, terrible coaching. Players are missing assignments everywhere because the coaches aren't communicating a defensive philosophy that can simultaneously have aggression with a measure of intelligence.

Odom has employed two philosophies since he's been here

1) Get blown off the ball and read and react, which is great at allowing 9 YPC
2) Attack with no ****ing idea of what is going on and no gap discipline or containment, which is great for giving up 60 yard plays.
