Another thing we haven't really talked about much, but the damn chiefs don't have a first rounder contributing on the defense from the past 4 drafts.

How the **** does that happen?

2 1's for a QB, trading out of the first the prior year and not putting a lid on the other one....well yeah that'll do it.

Rex's defense scares the shit out of me. Arguably more behind the times than grandpa Bob. Two gap space eaters when today's DL needs pass rushers and pocket collapsers. Slow Ragland ILBs at a time when you need speed at ILB. Complex Blitz packages when many defenses need to attack. It may not make you feel any better about spagnuolo, but hopefully relieves anxiety about passing on Rex.

Peters is gone.
Traded down to 37 to draft Jones when we should've just stayed put.
Mahomes took 2 1sts.

Did you see some of the throws that Mahomes had to make to do that? Lord, just look at his last two throws to tie the game back up. Mahomes went into God mode and when he's there, nobody is going to stop him or really even slow him down.

But Tom Brady wasn't in God mode. He was throwing picks with a clean jersey. He completed maybe 3 or 4 passes the whole game that had a genuine degree of difficulty (not including the one that Hogan just flat tore from the heavens...****ing Hogan).

I don't expect a DC that can go out there and shut down a guy who's playing unconscious football. But I would expect one that can at least say "well hell, maybe an 18 yard shell to a team that will GLADLY body punch me to death isn't a great idea afterall..."

My bar's not that high here, man. Brady wasn't playing out of his mind on Sunday - the Chiefs just made it far too easy for him. If Brady had been playing the Patriots defense and Mahomes playing the Chiefs defense, that game is 50 something to 20 something.

Ragland is a guy that pretty much fell apart, but you sort of need space eaters if you want to have a Defense that isn't shit. I don't understand why you seem to hate stopping the run.

No complex system to help stop it, or big bodies to help stop it. But they better ****ing stop it!!!!!!!

There are lots of ways to skin a cat. Whichever way it goes, at least we're attempting a different way than the previous, which was clearly not working.

Reading the tea leaves here.

-Andy likes to teach.
-He wants teachers on his staff.
-Despite a disastrous defense, we were an A. offsides and B. Coin flip from the Super Bowl.

There was no teaching from Sutton. Nobody knew what they were supposed to do. His gameplanning sucked, his adjustments sucked, his leadership sucked.

I mean FFS look at this. This is an embarrassment. Horribly implemented, horrible defensive call. Horrible everything.

For the record, Spagnuolo replaced Williams as DC before Bountygate fully broke (Williams left to be Fisher's DC with the Rams). Spagnuolo was hired in January, the suspensions came down in March. He inherited the defensive staff, but that's pretty common when a team with an established head coach hires an outside coordinator. Which, by the way, is also the situation he'll be in if he's hired here.

Yeah, I get that. I agree.

****, if Ford lines up right we're talking about how we picked Brady 3 times and came back from down 2 scores to go to the SB.

That was just an awful defensive effort and gameplan we put out there. We didn't even do an asstastic terrible job stopping the run, they only got about 3.4 or whatever per carry. We should let them run 94 ****ing plays. That's my problem with the whole bend but don't break thing. When you bend bend bend then break, you can absolutely put your defense in such a shit spot.

The Pats play smart defensive football. They just don't **** up. Theres a lot of value in just not ****ing up.
