I'll give it up for Q there, a lot of Royals managers wouldn't make that move 8 games into the season. Smith isn't some young guy he's been a legit reliever for years now and a lot of managers on a lot of teams would give him a long leash.

To his credit he's been the closer for the bulk of the season for 2 of the last 3 World Series champs. I'm guessing that's pretty much why.
