McCarthy isn't thought to be incredibly pro ready from all of the scouting on him. There's some video of him making throws that were completions that would be picks in the NFL and his college team leaned way more on running and defense than him.

If it's the sort of tear that would allow for a repair (some aren't), they should probably go that route.
McCarthy isn't a super-mobile guy to begin with and you're gonna start the clock on those knee drains and 'week to week with swelling' due to bone on bone contact before he even sets foot on an NFL field if you have a removal done now. You're gonna have to manage your QBs knee by the time he's 28 if you just have it taken out now. Just not a great idea, IMO. |

Yeah but if that redshirt year is spent doing rehab instead of practicing and working on things, it seems like not a ton of value. No good options here.
