It's rare that anything concerning Horseface make both fanbases happy.

I am very happy about this. Elway just sold his own team a lemon...himself.

It's looking like he already has 2 highly drafted QB busts on his GM resume...impressive.

CP has been saying Denver will decline for over 10 years now yet they are a wildly more successful franchise than us

It's been a while... the rumors of their demise are greatly exaggerated.

Denver has had some of the worst drafts in the NFL over the last five years. Not really arguable either.

Yeah, lucking into a HOF QB breaking his neck and using illegal drugs to even be able to play SUUUURE is impressive

Elway gets all the credit in the world for luring PM to Denver. He clearly outdid everyone on that and that deal was mostly all him. But that is it. That is really all he has done significantly as GM there. That courtship led to all of the other dominoes falling into place perfectly. No way Sanders and Ware come there if PM isn't there.

Since 2012, his drafts have been shit. Now, I guess you can argue he's not a scout and that's not his job (then the argument is Denver's scouting dept. sucks), but he ultimately signs off on the picks, so he gets the credit or the criticism, win or lose.

I get why all the Denver fans love Elway. He's an icon. He went to multiple Super Bowls as a player, won two. Became GM, they got to 2 more thanks to his convincing PM to sign there. So I get the Denver love for Elway. But outside of convincing PM to sign there, he has largely done jack squat. Denver's drafts continue to get worse and worse (again, whether that's on Elway or scouting dept., take your pick). Now he's hired his old playing buddy to be head coach. You've lost one of the best defensive coordinators and schemers in the league in Wade Phillips. The defense is still very talented, but will take a hit because of that.

These reasons are why KC fans are just as excited as Denver fans that they inked him to a long term contract extension to be GM. It's not like they're gonna fire him if he has a bad 2-3 years. He's John Elway. You're stuck with him, for better or worse.

Ultimately, I guess we'll see how it turns out . . . . . . .

I wish that would happen to the Chiefs.

32 years old and still haven't seen this team play in a Super Bowl
