FWIW, PFF had him as their 3rd safety and 54th player overall.
That seems to be the general consensus. Most draft sites had him in the 45-75 range, which means a solid second-third round projection. Good chance this ends up being a popular favorite pick from this draft. |

This pick isn't getting enough attention. I knew for Veach to pull the trigger on this safety he had to have some huge upside. We simply didn't have to have a safety in that spot. (I could say the same for the TEN CB.)
The value was too good. https://kckingdom.com/posts/chiefs-l...k-01hwgb5b67ja |

I know he's listed as a safety but he's a lot more than that. He can play any position in the secondary. This was one nasty Veach selection. This is the kind of versatility that will have Spags drooling. QB's will literally not know what's coming.
The pundits are raving we got this kid in the fourth round. |

Saw him referred to as the biggest steal in the draft in another article.

Any chance they envision him stepping in and playing that Willie Gay in nickel and dime role?

I mean the guy's physical for a safety but he's still a safety. I mean he's essentially built like Justin Reid. Plays very similar as well. I don't see them trying to make a linebacker out of him. Gay played a lot of SAM sort of stuff; they didn't have him out there doing Dirty Dan's job or anything. Short term he might be a Sorensen replacement. Long-term he steps in for Reid. And I still think Conner complements that sort of player better than Cook so I'd like to see Conner get that FS sort of role with Cook in a battle with Hicks for the starting Box role and the other guy ends up playing the S3 sort of thing we were doing back with Dan. |
