Game of Thrones Seasons 7-8

About to hit the 5000 post mark on the old thread, the first season 7 trailer today seems like the right time to start the final Game of Thones thread.

I'm going back to the original rules pre-2015. I don't think we need supervision or bannings. Just don't be a dick. Post anything you find online that hasn't aired yet inside of spoiler tags. That's pretty much it. I think we can all handle that...

For future us, 2015 thread is here: Link

Could also see everyone getting run out of Westeros and heading east for Essos where they will rule. NK completes his mission of sending man back from where he came. Part of me believes they're going to give the NK some important and understandable reason to be doing what he is doing.

Watching conan the barbarian. The first one with Arnold. Crazy how I'm seeing some connections to GOT. I can't even list them all. And the three eyed raven actor is in it.

I watched the finale again tonight.

Something really stood out to me. After they waxed Littlefinger Sansa and Arya stood on the wall talking about it. Sansa said, "you did it." Arya replied,"I was just the executioner. You passed the sentence." They then talked about things Ned said. Taking care of each other in winter and the lone wolf does bit.

You know what else Ned said? He who passes the sentence should swing the sword. I wonder if they are foreshadowing something there? Not sure what it would be. Ned and Robb both did it and died but so did Jon and he's alive. Well maybe. He hasn't done it since he died.

The other thing that stood out to me was there was some tremendous acting. Dinklage, Harrington, Heady and Nickolaj whatever-whatever in particular. My god that was compelling television. Particularly when Jamie dumped Cersei. There was a lot of emotion and acting all executed outside of dialogue primarily with facial expression. That is a difficult thing to do. Especially with so many different people relying on it. Bash the writing all you want but mother****er the performances are top notch.

Eh, the writers have the subtlety of a jackhammer these days. My default assumption at this point is that nothing is foreshadowing.

Agreed. Aiden Gillen (Littlefinger)'s performance was on point as well.

King Osric, the Usurper.

God I love that movie, from the first time I saw in the theater when I was in high school. I have a replica of the sword he used made by the same company hanging on the wall in my den.

Rewatching

In season 2 now.

Theon really does not deserve a redemption arc.

Calling it now. Jon will die saving Dany, Dany will die in childbirth.

So her son will be king, but an infant can't rule, and Tyrion is going to end up ruling in his stead (per a request Dany makes) until he comes of age.

Well, I finally finished it starting at Season 1 starting late July, through to Season 7. The latter was started Sunday night on my return home from working in Orlando. Season 1 I found boring, but I know it can take time to get invested in the characters in a long series. Enjoyed Season 2, but Season 3 was weird and it upset me and wasn't sure I'd continue. BUT—then it just gets really good and even better as it moves along. Great story!

It pissed me off that Sandor threw that rock at the wights. Dumb! Who wouldn't know that the dragon, Drogon, would get resurrected. Where did that raggedy bunch manage to get those big chains to pull it up from the water though ?

I'm too impatient to wait for what I hear is two years for the last season. Two years? Gonna have to pick-up the book even if it has changes from the filmed version.

Max Von Sydow, always been a fan.
Blurted that out when he appeared as the TER and the wife was like "who?" :headshake:
