Avengers (4) Endgame - Spoilers Welcome Thread

Since Endgame is probably one of the most anticipated films we've had here in a while, let's quarantine all discussion from those who have seen the film (or who have otherwise read spoilers). If you don't want to see stuff get spoiled, stay out!

(And this will likely be the last time I view this thread until Friday, so if you need me to put something in the OP or similar, shoot me a PM. I won't read posts in here.)

Top spot adjusted for inflation is still Gone with the wind. Over $3.3 billion and guessestimating overseas money brings it to $7 billion.

No thanks on seeing this 3 + hour movie again in theaters just for some post credits scene/additional footage. Plus , the post credits scene will be on Youtube rather quickly anyways.

Some writer at the Washington Post had a good write up comparing Endgame vs Avatar's box office runs. Both are insanely impressive as hell but it favors Avatar.

I was aware that there wasn't as many movie theaters in China back when Avatar came out. But I wasn't aware at just how much expansion they've done there.
excerpt from the article...
Back then, the country as a whole had just under 5,000 screens. Wanna guess how many it has now?

There are now an estimated 60,000 movie screens in China. (The United States has 41,000.)

This makes for an astonishing figure for “Avatar.” That movie managed to take in more than a third as much as “Endgame” in China, despite theater capacity that wasn’t even a 10th of what it is now.

Yea but does account for the fact that Avatar stayed in theaters for 9 months? Avengers gets about 2 and a 1/2 months then it's dvd time.

Really hope this is all in the dvd feature
Lot of talk that one of these is in the new release. A Stan Lee tribute will be in there as well IMO, but I’m very confident that Tony seeing his daughter in the soul stone realm like Thanos did will be in this new release.

RDJ had pics on set and Katherine Langford was in them.

Never quit understood the appeal of Avatar. Of course I never saw it in the theaters. Decent movie, but not one I'm going out of my way to watch.

It was Fern Gully with eye porn visual effects. I saw it once in the theater and have never been tempted to watch it again.

Oh no doubt I agree with ya . Avatar had much less competition at the box office at the time. Endgame was front loaded as hell though (everyone and their brother went out to see it opening weekend so they could avoid spoilers) . Which is why it won't have the long theater run like Avatar had.

Both films have had incredible historic box office runs. But I still side with Avatar's as it was more of a risk at the time (a no name actor starring in a $200 million + budget sci film about big blue aliens compared to an established franchise starring dozens of big name actors/actresses) .

I guess I can only come up with a single answer to that one and it's that removing someone FROM a timeline means that timeline would then exist without that person. So for Gamora, that's no big deal because she's not needed in that timeline anymore (and now I guess that timeline has a completely different outcome? One where she's not there to form up the Guardians of the Galaxy at all?).

But for Tony, the only way he'd be relevant in the 'new' timeline is if you took a Tony out that had already gone through the events of the Infinity War and had his kid. So you'd essentially need to scoop one up from right before the major battle and since Strange says there's only 1 outcome where they win, removing him from THAT timeline would serve to wreck it. So what's the point apart from being strictly selfish?

Best answer I can come up with, at least as it relates to Tony - he would effectively have to stay dead either way.

So to make the timeline thing work, you have to kinda understand what The Ancient One was getting at - anything you do for YOUR timeline still creates an alternate timeline where that thing has an impact. If you're just robbing Peter to pay Paul, I guess you leave well enough alone?
Kang the conqueror solves this dilemma.

I think you misread that. There's a report that Whalberg is replacing Chris Evans in a movie called Infinite, but it's nothing to do with Marvel.
