Anyone Know Anything About Pittsburgh?

Heading to Pittsburgh next month when the Royals play the Pirates. Have always wanted to visit that ballpark so I知 taking the plunge.

I値l arrive around noon that Friday, and I leave Sunday morning. Friday game is 6:40pm and the Saturday game is at 1:05pm. So we値l have most of Saturday to do whatever after the game. Anyone got any rec痴 for bars, restaurants, hotels or activities? Should I get a hotel near the ballpark? Anything helpful is appreciated!

Find a place to get some pierogis. It's what the town is known for food wise.

I just watched a documentary about Andrew Carnegie. He's from Pittsburgh.

Definitely stay right across from the ballpark. Then you can simply walk to and from the game. Ideally, the Renaissance.

Yes, stay on the south shore, then walk over the Roberto Clemente Bridge to the ballpark. All well lit and policed.

Try a Primanti Bros sandwich. Pierogies are bland as hell and a waste of money IMO.

If you walk down the river from PNC, past Heinz Field there is the Carnegie Science Center. Cool place to visit if you have kids. There's also a casino just past all of that. It would all be walkable.

The Strip Disctrict is also a good place to visit if you want a taste of some culture. Lots of shops and restaurants. It's a little farther out from the stadia, on the south shore.

Forgot to mention the incline to the top of Mt. Washington. That's another touristy thing to do.

I'm biased as a Pirates fan but it is a top 5 baseball stadium.

I stayed at the Marriott right next to the stadium and the first photo is my room view to the stadium entrance.

The second time I stayed at the Fairmont and ran into Bill Cowher.

For breakfast eat at Pamela's Diner and for dinner eat at Meat and Potatoes.

Primanti's has a location inside the stadium so try it there.

You should go up Mt Washington by car or take a funicular.

Really cool city and not overpriced.

Pittsburgh is a top 10 underrated city of the world.

Interesting. About 20 years ago I saw Bill Cowher and his family at Pamela's for breakfast on a Sunday morning.

Pittsburgh is so great that 90% of the population left there and lives near me in Northern Virginia. They have a shitty sandwich place that they put fries on every sandwich, because they suck and they need to cover up how bad they taste. They wave towels a lot and are obnoxious. That's about it.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I do appreciate it!

Played a gig in Pittsburgh 21 years ago, and I’ve driven through there a couple times, but I’ve never spent any time there.

My fellow baseball nerd buddy is gonna join me and he’s never been to PNC either, so this will be fun for both of us. Never know, might catch Skenes, which would be pretty cool to see.

I’ve got several old film buddies from Pittsburgh and they talk the city up a lot, and even though I’ll only be there for maybe 48 hours, I’m looking forward to checking out the vibe, relaxing with my buddy and hopefully seeing the Royals whoop some Pirate ass!
