Yes I'm sure he has plenty of excuses for his consistently horribly ranked defenses. Only context that really matters is he's a Reid crony.

I was gonna say that. The top defenses in the league are pretty well stacked with talent. It's tough to do that and it's tough to keep that year to year. Ideally, get in that 12-18 range year to year with this offense and you're looking at a 12-14 win team.

Will Spags (**** you guys i'm not typing that out every time) be able to do that? I dunno.

It's all about the players. Don Martindale, the Ravens defensive coordinator was a DC one time before this year. His teams ranking was 32nd. This year, it's #1.

Give spags talent and we'll be good. If we find get talent, we'll be shitty again. Simple

But yeah the list isn't long, I'd like a guy who has coached multiple teams to this level of numerous years.
Those teams are stocked full of talent everywhere on defense. Even Bob Sutton looked good in his first few years when we had talent.

So did Spagnoulo when he helped the Giants win the Super Bowl.

You need horses to do well in this league. Shit man, Sutton looked real ****ing good with our pass rush having 3 top tier rushers, but our secondary looked like ass bc nobody but Kendall Fuller deserved to be on the damn roster most of the season.

Show a defense that transitioned from 3-4 to 4-3 and ranked middle of pack first year and I'll believe it.

Plenty of examples pointing the other direction.

That's an above average Defense.

Compare that to what he'll have to work with in KC.

Speaks? - Jones - Nnadi - Kpass?

Awesome.

That my main point, we are taking 2 of our top 3 pass rushers and adding question marks in a 4-3.

I would argue that part of our problem was that we were playing a 3-4 with mostly 4-3 personnel in the first place.

It's cool, man. Let's just see what shakes out. I think this is a solid but not earth shaking hire, and that's just not ever something that people get real excited about. It's often what wins, though.

Exactly...

At least we won’t be so predictable too regardless. It was embarrassing Sunday night to hear the announcers say that KCs defense was so easy to dissect pre snap. Not only that, but the players often looked lost and timid.

I’m ready to give anyone a chance and I think the 4-3 switch will be great given our current roster and the fact that most colleges use it.

Is it not clear that the Chiefs have made the determination that the defense is the issue? If so, is there any reason that we should not expect them to draft heavily on the defensive side this year and get more talent?

So then by that measure we had the 24th best defense in the NFL.

We had the best pass rush in the league.

Spags has proven he can beat the Patriots with that kind of talent.

Seems a simple decision to me.
