I suspect your initial reaction was spot-on. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm with you. Far too much CGI in this preview.

Fury Road actually had a lot of CGI, but it was made to blend in with the practical effects. Here, yeah, I have my reservations about the spinning rear-end with the triple flail balls, but I have faith in George Miller.

I am cautiously excited about it. It has a lot to live up to but I worry that it will be more studio-driven, like Mad Max 3 was and like other movie such as Blair Witch 2 turned out to be. The presence of Chris Hemsworth doesn't do too much to assuage those fears.

They should just dump a pile of money at George Miller's feet and say "Do your thing," but in my experience, movie studios like to have demands attached.

I dont think I've ever seen a bad movie featuring ATJ so I'm pretty ****ing hyped. That being said, there is a whole lot more CGI going on here than Fury Road, and that makes me sad. Fury Road was a practical effects masterpiece.

The practical effects were what MADE Fury Road.

If that had been a bunch of CGI, the movie wouldn't have been very good at all; certainly wouldn't have led to a prequel.

The trailer felt more like a Netflix series than a major movie. And ATJ's eyes are still spaced too far apart and she freaks me out.

I have the exact same gripe- trailer looked like too much CGI for my taste. Takes away from what made Fury Road such a great action flick. My expectations are tempered but I just don't think there is any way that this film comes close to Fury Road.

Hope I'm wrong!

Phew, im not the only one. The trailer seemed to lack grit. The CGI is too clean. Mad Max needs to be dirtier. Love the franchise, but it's the grit that makes the franchise excellent.

So it says on IMDB that Chris Hemsworth is playing Immotan Joe, isn't that the baddie from the first movie? But we see a version of the baddie from the first movie in this trailer facing head to head with Chris Hemsworth. Will be interesting to see how that comes around.
