There are just so many WRs in this year's class that we have to walk away with one of the top guys. I'm so excited for this year's draft.
MVS 6'4''

4.37 40

And he's not a weak rail like Franklin.

I get it. WR is a sexy and exciting pick. Guys like Franklin or whoever might be available in the first round but I just don’t see it happening. We’ve won two super bowls with sub par WRs. And now we finally have a good wr in rashee rice. I don’t see us taking a wr in round one with the holes we have on the oline and dline. And considering the depth in this draft at wr, why rush it? A quality wr will be available with our 2nd round pick and maybe with our third. Somebody has to fall.

How big is Tank Dell?

Zay Flowers?

It's obvious that you prefer size. You like Mitchell, Thomas Jr., etc., while you don't like Franklin, Worthy, etc.

That's fine and all, but in today's NFL, you don't need it.

There are probably 3-4 people on CP that think we have to take one in round 1. Most of us are fine waiting until round 2. This class is very deep.

Impressive for a "weak rail":

Franklin's contested catch rate is somewhat disappointing. His frame is a little light and paired with his contested catch rate may point to him struggling with stronger NFL DB's. It's not Xavier Worthy low, but it something to note.

And I can't stop calling him Tony.

Yeah, bigger is better unless there is a constellation of traits that are WOW.

Franklin is a good player but not exciting me.

I'll just say right now that the WR after the first 4 that are expected to go that I am looking at is Adonai.

I want upside.

He is much bigger than Franklin and just as fast.

Funny how you can't see Franklin's speed translating on the field when it clearly does, but you don't see that MVS doesn't look like a 4.3 guy on the field. MVS is a 4.37 guy that looks like a 4.4 guy on the field. Franklin looks significantly faster on the field.

Also, there are 6'3"+ guys that run in the 4.3s that are much better than MVS. Just because there's a comparison to be made in terms of height and 40 doesn't mean that Franklin literally is MVS.

Wait, so now you are arguing that MVS isn't fast but Franklin is?!

You spent pages screaming that it's just the 40 time, that's all that counts and now you are saying this.

Please explain how Franklin is faster. Unless he runs a 4.2 40 this makes no sense.

At first glance he's a lot taller than Drake London or A.T. Perry, who were drafted in recent years, and is far more complete of a WR than Perry who no one's heard from since the draft. Dude's fast too!? WTF?

Philadelphia HOF WR Harold Carmichael was 6'8" 228. He paired with speedy 5'9" Harold Jackson to give the Eagles a terrific tandem in the 70's to early 80's. His last big season was 1981 when future Chiefs qb Ron Jaworski took the Eagles to the SB vs. the Raiders.

News flash: Franklin doesn't have a 40 time yet, at least not one that I've seen or is official/reliable. As I already pointed out, that's why you saying his speed doesn't translate on the field makes no sense. How would you even know what he times?

Everything I've said about Franklin's speed is based on what I've seen on the field. His speed is obvious when you watch him play. He looks like a guy that should run in the low 4.3s, but when I talk about his speed, I'm talking about what I've seen on the field.

MVS has never looked 4.3 fast to me, and considering he's barely in the 4.3s, I don't think it's a stretch to say he looked more like a guy that runs in the 4.4s.

I posted this in another thread, but I'll post it in here too:

That's pretty good ****ing company.

MVS's best season was as a 5th year senior when he had 879 yards and 6 TDs (before that he never even had 500 yards). Franklin had better numbers than that as a 19 year old ****ing sophomore.

That's a nice list.

The problem is that almost every player on it is a much better route runner and better at catching the ball.

Maybe the comp could be Jamo who most on this board loved.

Right now he is a useful player who serves a role in Detroit and that is running down the field and clearing space for Sun God and La Porta.

That's what I expect Franklin to be in the NFL. A fancy decoy that is low volume.

Jameson Williams was essentially a rookie this year. The book on him isn't even closed to finished, but since he's the one outlier you can point to, of course you're going to be dismissive of what being on that list says about Franklin.
