That's NFL Draft Twitter's seedy underbelly. At best, that guy wanted to 'discuss the player' but more likely someone fed him intel on something else to get his guy "in the first round conversation" in the final weeks leading up to the draft.

When you realize how full of shit most of these guys are, nonsense like Polk in the first round starts to make more sense.
That begs the question…who do you take there if you’re Veach? It’s the same exact situation as last year. 5 WR’s gone, all of the tackles gone.

Do you reach a bit for Kingsley Suamataia or Patrick Paul? Maybe pull the trigger on Nate Wiggins? Johnny Newton is there too but I’m not sure about his overall size and short arms fitting here.

If I were Veach I’d probably just pull the trigger on Troy Franklin and call it a day

It's a Schraegs mock. He's not a high level football analyst he's an elbow rubber. All of this is bullshit being fed. It wouldn't surprise me if Veach himself said Polk because he's a completely different type of player from what he wants in R1. I like Polk the player though. I didn't read the mock, but if Veach made that pick I would trust it he's earned that. It could be a complete over correction from the dropped balls last year and they want the guy who doesn't drop shit.

He's tough and has fantastic hands. I'd prefer someone a little faster but I think he can play a little better than his 4.52.
Problem I see it that one of those 2nd round targets will fall to use @ #64, unless we think Polk is special I might wait to see who falls to us.

I'm not advocating for Polk at 32 just for the record and I agree. I am full reerun for Pearsall though lol. I'm not saying at 32 but I'm not not saying at 32.

I’d try to trade up with the Bucs and choose Mitchell or McConkey

Trade up for McKonkey? The hype trains officially off the tracks.

There’s gonna be a run on WR’s around our pick. McConkey, Polk, Pearsall, Franklin, Coleman and Legette will all go from around 30-42 and it’s going to be based on preference.

Polk is a high floor low ceiling type player for me personally but I wouldn’t hate it

BTW in this scenario, I'd call Atlanta and offer them what ever you were going to offer Chicago...

But why would Atlanta trade from 8 to 32 when they already have 4 picks in the top 100?

It only makes sense for Chicago because after 9....they don't pick again until 75. In this scenario, they would end up turning 9 into 32 and 64...plus a high pick next year.

It's a good point and I agree...I'd still try Atlanta and see if they bite, that's what I was saying.

I think Chicago is way more of an option to move up and you lay out why.

I'd be very temped to take Newton.

I imagine they'd take Franklin or Kingsley though.

Newton would be a hard guy to pass on. That interior pass rush would be somethin' else.

I'm still leaning OT here in that scenario. But if they saw more from Morris than I did and wanted to go with Newton instead, that wouldn't bother me a bit. I think he's going to be a very good player.

Patience will be needed though. It seems like the learning curve for interior pass rushers is pretty steep. Though with Tank back (and Danna's ability to move inside) we have a little depth to work with there. NT isn't great, but you could rotate him in/around at 3-tech. You could really just have him back up Jones if you wanted to have have him come into that spot when Jones kicks out to DE.

Jones - Newton - Wharton - Karlaftis would be an interesting little pass rush package to send out there in clear passing situations or on the occasional 1st down when you're daring them to run the ball.
