No, tOSU went for 2 and didn't get it. If they had taken the PAT, tOSU would have done the same and would have still be up by 1.

Sure seems like getting McSorely out of the pocket with the option to run or throw would’ve given them the best chance to pick that up.

It was a duplicate of the Cardale era. Urban Meyer has no idea how to scheme for a pocket qb. Half of those plays were a slow plodding rpo which is totally worthless when your qb is zero threat to run.

Right but what I was saying was even in the pocket with a 3-step drop, Haskins wasn't very accurate at times tonight.

That's under the assumption they make the XP though. If Penn State took the XP (and make it), chances are OSU would have made that XP, but we'll never know though.

I still defend on taking the XP if I was Penn State.

Big win against #9 in their house in prime time.

htismaqe,

But I MOST certainly would have not called a inside zone on a 4th and 5. I most certainly would prefer to do a empty backfield, 5 wide.

This offense tonight was signature Alex Smith. Which is signature urban Meyer. Everything about it. When you run every play sideways or a slow plodding rpo, the defense is going to attack you and shut off the short stuff. Did that offensive scheme not look exactly like the Chiefs offense from 2 years ago?

When did I say urban can't win. He's a hell of a coach and a monster of a recruiter. But he is a horrendous offensive playcaller.

Absolutely. One of the worst play calls ever.

Agreed on the worst play call.

I honestly thought 5 wide/empty backfield would have been the right route to go, and the QB (with his skill set) would have the option of passing it or running, depending on what the defense gives him.
