DVOA actually takes into account the strength of the competition, specifically defense.

So you don't really get points for beating up bad teams. You get points for beating up good defenses.

Not at the beginning of the season it doesn’t from my understanding? Schedule adjustments only come in after like 4-6 weeks iirc
