He's not guaranteed much of anything past this year, but his salary would still be 18 and then 19 million plus some fairly substantial roster per game roster bonuses.

He's not going to be cheap if they want to keep him after this season. Though in terms of actual long-term risk, there really isn't any for them.

Ah, ok. I missed this part. Makes much more sense now I guess if they don't plan on keeping him? Otherwise, keep on getting rid of that cap space.
