"Bataan death march". Oh how I know what that's like. Thursday night had to be an all-timer.

I wanted to emphasize a few important points:
This Charger's loss may not be anywhere near as damaging as we expect. Why? Because Seattle will likely have LITTLE OR NOTHING to play for next Sunday when we face them. If Seahawks beat Niners this week, their locked into either the 5th or 6th seed WC. No matter what happens in the league until season's end. If Seahawks beat Niners AND Miami beats the Vikings this week, the Seahawks would then be locked into the 5th seed, by the end of this weekend! KC will be facing a Seahawks team who may well be resting starters, allowing Wilson to play only a half, less sense of urgency etc. Google Seahawks playoff clinching scenarios or ESPN playoff simulator to see. And then we would face Oakland at home the last week, which is almost like a BYE win as others have mentioned. Also, the other MAJOR benefit to the Chargers loss is now the coaching staff won't be resting Mahomes against Oakland in the last week (in pursuit of HFA), which could well have happened if KC clinched early and would have inevitably reduced his pass yards and TD passes season totals, allowing Brees or Rivers a better chance to win the MVP. In a close race, Mahomes needs every advantage and snap that he can get to pad his stats to maximize his chances of beating Brees for MVP. Of course, if KC had beaten the Chargers, there would have been benefits to that scenario too, but Mahomes MVP chances are very important. I mean having our Kansas City QB in the NFL record books with an all time great season with over 50 TD's, over 5000 yards, and win league MVP is the best consolation prize if the Chiefs don't win the SB this year. |

Oakland nearly beat the Chiefs thanks to the defense. No such thing as a bye.

This. We could lose either game or both. People need to quit thinking of this like a college game or something. The teams we play are also paid professional athletes. And when you add the fact that it's a division rival...

Many ways to look at it. If you can't beat Oakland at home, with HFA on the line, you're not capable of winning the SB. Better to maximize Mahomes chances to win MVP and go in the record books by going all out, than sitting him Week 17 with everything wrapped up.

1 Arrowhead Way is still like this today:
They know it'll blow over, they know 10 days will allow for a lot of distractions and numbing, they're just thankful that they have 10 days for the uproar to settle. They can still keep doing stupid shit... |

If I had George's seats I would be, but because I didn't I haven't been for a decade. Truth is, unless you have George's seats, it's pretty-much a waste of money. The boys and I still go to 3-6 games a year, we can get tix for ~$50 if we want to save coin, we never pay face value like we did as STHs, we don't waste our money on two pretty-much useless preseason games, we don't feel obligated to attend other games, and we don't have to bother with reselling tickets. And, at a personal level, with our hockey schedule, it's tough any way you slice it.
And with parking at the current prices, it's just stupid. I almost paid as much to park last Thursday than for each ticket. Wow, $60 to park is nuts. Anyway, like I said, unless you're George, **** being a STH! Pay what you need to pay for the games you want/can attend, but you won't save any money by being a STH, you'll just have the same seat every game. And this team is a long way away, many years, from being so in demand that a ticket can't be had at, or below, face value. Last edited by GloryDayz; 12-16-2018 at 09:53 AM.. |

We understood about our defense going in this season. We had hoped to upgrade a little, and be able to cope and grow. We have had some defensive disappointments and some highlights. Realistically, no one thought we would be with this record at this time, so we have made progress.
