What's the consensus on state to state travel while driving? We were planning on visiting our son, who's living alone, for several days next week...I can't go because I have to manage work right now, but the wife and kids were still going to go.

Are they going to ban driving from state to state?

I can't imagine that that will happen. But, you might need "papers"...

The disctrict here is going to do elearning to finish the year. They will get lesson plans and assignments. Turn them into their teachers on Microsoft teams. This is for grades K-12. Giving students computers and spectrum is putting in free broadband for the classes.

The goal is to get everyone through this year and on to the next year.

Constitutional law is abundantly clear on the right to interstate travel.

So again, absent a suspension of the Constitution and the imposition of martial law, there's no way to ban travel from state to state.

Now there is a caveat there that's not 100% fleshed out - there isn't necessarily a right to use public roads.

So could the government lock down federal highways? Hmmmm.....maybe?

The report, issued Wednesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, found that — as in other countries — the oldest patients had the greatest likelihood of dying and of being hospitalized. But of the 508 patients known to have been hospitalized, 38 percent were notably younger — between 20 and 54. And nearly half of the 121 patients who were admitted to intensive care units were adults under 65, the C.D.C. reported.

As of March 16, a total of 4,226 COVID-19 cases had been reported in the United States, with reports increasing to 500 or more cases per day beginning March 14 (Figure 1). Among 2,449 patients with known age, 6% were aged ≥85, 25% were aged 65–84 years, 18% each were aged 55–64 years and 45–54 years, and 29% were aged 20–44 years (Figure 2). Only 5% of cases occurred in persons aged 0–19 years.

Among 508 (12%) patients known to have been hospitalized, 9% were aged ≥85 years, 26% were aged 65–84 years, 17% were aged 55–64 years, 18% were 45–54 years, and 20% were aged 20–44 years. Less than 1% of hospitalizations were among persons aged ≤19 years (Figure 2). The percentage of persons hospitalized increased with age, from 2%–3% among persons aged ≤9 years, to ≥31% among adults aged ≥85 years. (Table).

I can't imagine they'd get to that point. We can't shut down the trucking industry, for example.
