This is really disturbing. They are not releasing many details about the patient(not that they should but you know the media). I don't think you have to be a P.I. to start to put together that this is probably a relatively young woman. The story reports she barely survived a drowning, which although not exclusively, generally out here that refers to a child. Plus, my guess would be that it's a much more difficult decision to pull the plug on your minor or teenage child than it would be on your 45 year old daughter or relative(obviously, both scenarios would be awful). Then, I wonder if media outlets are looking at the legality of releasing her age or other information. She's an adult now since they refer to her as a woman but there may be some more restrictive privacy laws if someone was in a coma as a child and has never come out. I'm thinking this is an 18-20 year old. Whoever did this is a sick **** whether she is 18 or 38 but I was just doing some thinking on some parts of the story.

A similar story was in law and order years ago. The family of the girl opted not to press charges and actually tried to derail the investigation because the mother paid a nurse to do it... She wanted a grandchild that their incapacitated daughter could not provide.

I guess it shouldn't be a surprise, but man people do **** up things

I was going to say this story would make an interesting SVU episode.Was the one you're referring to SVU or the original Law & Order?
