The offense gave an elite offense too many chances, though. Spags can't hide mediocre talent forever.

They did their job.

You bring in a new DC and a new scheme and you are going to have growing pains. Stick with the guy who built three Top 10 scoring defenses. Give him a little more talent and watch the defense improve.

Yep. Patrick pulled a Rodgers and lost this game.

I never would have dreamed that 24 points in regulation wouldn't be enough.

One touchdown the whole second half is all they needed.

Wake the **** up! We have growing pains every year with Spags.

Our offense wasn't the unit that gave up those points. Granted the offense had it's issues but the offense wasn't the unit to lose a 3 possession lead. That is squarely on the defense. Samaje ****ing Perine, unacceptable. Chris Jones performance, unacceptable. That mother ****er is the biggest and most powerful man on the field when he is out there. And what the **** does he do? Nothing. ****ing nothing. Zero impactful plays. He costs 29 million dollars next year btw. He plays unmotivated, fat and slow. He cashed his check already and is playing like it. To make my point even further on that, Bigfoot mother ****ing Jones left 1 million dollars on the table like it was nothing. You know how many players would kill for that opportunity? His ass though? Eh, no bfd.

That defense needs to be dumped on it's head and accountability has to start being applied. Starting with Spags ass out the door.

You are throwing away a ton of continuity.

The Chiefs defense has been good enough to win a SB all three years despite a lot of talent issues.

I'm not throwing that away. I'm keeping that solid. Spags + Mahomes is a proven championship combo.

The only issue with that combo has been OL injury and QB yips.

Then there better not be a start like there was this year.....or Spags can be gone.

End of story.

Damn near every team licks their chops to face Spags overrated defense. At this point his defense is not fooling any one. Every year we hear how it takes time to understand and implement when the real reason is that he has been given to many excuses for his failures. Mix in the questionable play calling, loyalty to players that should not be playing over others, and a attitude that reeks of arrogance is only the beginning of his problems on defense.

Changes have to be made. They have to be made from the top of the defense. Moving into the next year with the same scheme with some new players is only pounding your head against the wall. Stop that insane behavior.
Joe Burrow was still picked off. Cincy didn't have an easy time scoring in this game in either first half or second half. Chiefs defense stopped them or prevented them from 7 on plenty of possessions.

Defense really only gave up an 11 point lead when the Chiefs offense was sputtering. It wasn't a sputtering offense that just had drives fizzling out after 2-3 first downs but it was an offense whose passing game fell completely apart. Chiefs had bigger lead than 11 but that 18 point lead was when the Chiefs offense was still scoring at will.

And 7 points that defense "gave up" in 2nd half was when KC's offense handed the ball to the Bengals on the Chiefs own 27 yard line.

Given the makeup of this Chiefs team, this loss was at least 90% on the offense and coaching on offensive side of the ball and 10% or less on the defense.

About 100 percent of that was the Frank Clark/Chris Jones dynamic, and the Sorensen mishaps.

The sign that they got it corrected in time to literally save our season, is why I want Spags kept around.

Spags only played Dan 22 snaps yesterday, and about 0 deep snaps against Buffalo. Chief fan got his wish.

I completely get where you're coming from but Spags should have seen after one game that Sorensen couldn't do what was being asked of him. Yet he still trotted his pathetic ass out there for 100% of the snaps while his defense led the league in being ass.

I get what you're saying. But the fact is:

1. They got it corrected.
2. It didn't hurt this team in the long run.
3. Sorensen is probably off the roster next season.

The grass is not always greener, especially when the grass you're talking about ripping out is literally Top 10 three years in a row.

Replacing both EB and Spags in one offseason will lead to continuity issues. Can't have both units struggling to pick each other up.
Gutting the defense as we all expect will also mean that the DC is here for the next three seasons to oversee its transformation unless the D is abysmally bad.
Letting EB go is a far easier sell but only if the new OC can challenge Reid situationally. Promoting Kafka only to watch the O do nothing for an entire half because of sheer stupidity serves no purpose. And it has happened multiple times that the O has gone cold.
But the shine is starting to come off the Reid/Mahomes combo. How could they blow such a lead in a home AFCCG against the Bengals of all teams?

Sorenson was the only player they had for that role. We saw how terrible Watts was. I see a big change coming there. A highly paid new FA safety and an early draft pick IMO

Chiefs had 10 possessions overall to defend. They gave up 27 points to the Pro Football Focus #1 ranked QB this year who was the number 1 pick in the draft after leading his team to the NCAA championship. Granted Burrow had better receivers in that game than most NFL teams but his playoff passing numbers in college were off the charts and arguably the best ever by a collegian. The next 5-10 years will tell how great Joe Burrow really is but so far he has played great in college and the NFL.

Thanks to Chase and other weapons, he didn't have an easy offense to defend despite the bad defensive line. There are ways to work around having a bad offensive line if you have a very good QB and receivers that are good in short to intermediate yard routes.

Chief fans are acting like Chiefs defense should perform like the Titans. Titans built their team more around defense. And the 9 sacks was misleading since even the Titans didn't get many more pressures than that... The Titans don't have a Mahomes/Hill/Kelce so they were hoping to win games 24-17.

If you told Andy Reid and Chief fans that KC would have 2 turnovers where they did on the field and then said, Cincy would average 2.7 points per possession on 10 possessions I believe he would happily take it figuring the offense would still win the game if Chiefs had 10 possessions themselves.
