Clark still wasn't worth that trade compensation. I'm not afraid to say it.

Veach got played on that one.

PGM, do you plan on saying anything on this message board some time in the next few months that isn't a bitch or a gripe about something other posters said in the past?

You've turned into a very very angry person since we won a Super Bowl. You don't engage one on one. You speak in generalities. And you just go off completely ****ing unprovoked. It's like we could be talking about BBQ or cat videos or some shit and you'll spout off, "REMEMBER WHEN IDIOTS BASHED SOMETHING THE CHIEFS DID DURING THE SEASON????"

Cheer the **** up a little, man.

That second round pick we gave away was what made the Clark deal "too much".

That pick is the 64th pick, the last in the second round. The Chiefs have the 63rd pick from SF.

So if you have a choice of Frank Clark winning us a Super Bowl or having two picks in a row at the end of the second round?

It's Clark and it's a no-brainer.

What? Could have had Za'darius Smith, your choice of Greedy Williams, DeAndre Baker, Byron Murphy in the 1st round in 2019, an extra second round pick this year, and $2m extra cap space this year for the cost of Frank Clark?

Frank's a good player, but those kinds of deals are bad.

The Chiefs won the Super Bowl and it's wasn't because they could have had a few extra draft picks.

Good grief.

So you think if the Chiefs just signed Za'darius Smith (or Preston Smith, or anyone who signed a decent sized FA deal the same offseason we traded for Clark) as a free agent last year, rather than make the trade for Clark, they all of a sudden don't get to the Superbowl?

I think Veach has done a good job, I think Clark is a good player. Doesn't make this deal a good one just because the Chiefs won the Superbowl. If you walked into a casino and put everything you own on red, just because you win doesn't mean it was a good idea.

No shit.

Everyone bitched and moaned last year in the off-season about how bad the defense was and if we could just field a competent defense, then we could win a Super Bowl.

Andy finally tells Bob to hit the road, gets Spags to replace him and Veach asks Spags what he needs to make this defense work. Trim the fat and add HB. He does that. What else you need, Steve? Replace Dee Ford (who was absolute dogshit against the run and couldn’t set the edge for shit) with a pass rushing, run stopping DE who can set the edge. Veach says ‘check’ and gets the best guy available for that role. Defense eventually gels, is huge in the playoffs and we win a Super Bowl.

And yet people still bitch . . . . . .

We overpaid for Clark on paper, but he had 5 postseason sacks which was huge in us winning the Super Bowl.

Sure it was an overpay, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Now that we’ve gotten over the hump, I have a different mindset. I don’t think we should go “all-in” like that as often in the future.

Winning the first Super Bowl in 50 years for this franchise needed to happen and it needed to happen when it did.

Would you trade LJ collier and the last pick in the second round this year for frank clark?

Because that is what he cost+ a contract

I don't understand why the Chiefs, who are definitely in "Win Now" mode after just winning the Super Bowl, would spend the #32 overall on a player who may not be needed for 2, 3 or 4 years down the line.

If the Chiefs stay at #32, there will be plenty of options for players that can start and contribute immediately and if they trade back to acquire multiple picks, there will still be plenty of players in rounds 2, 3 and maybe even 4 that can contribute this season and most likely, start Day One (well, IF there's a day one).
Yup, I’m ALL about an interior line pick in the 2nd or 3rd... but tackle just isn’t a pressing issue right now

The Chiefs didn't sign Smith, making this an exercise in futility.

The ONLY reason to make trades like the Chiefs made for Clark is to WIN A SUPER BOWL.

Considering that's exactly what happened, while Clark was dominant in the playoffs, I'd say it was a fantastic deal that paid the dividends they as a franchise were expecting.

The 2nd we traded is the 2nd in THIS draft coming up so no we couldn’t have had any of those players.

Of course the Chiefs got workeed in the value, but it's like people forget just how shitty the first round talent was in last years class.

The Seahawks knew it was a shit class too and well no way we were going to get great value. This board was going berserk for a guy in the first round that they got an entire round later.
