I don't think its really breaking news that property taxes in CA are insane compared to the midwest, right?

It's currently like $120 a month, which has to be paid directly to the state each month as Allstate doesn't provide earthquake insurance.

It's a bit of a PITA.

Denver real estate is hilarious these days because of all the Californians moving there.

Yes. By all means, come to Denver. Just learn that getting an SUV doesn't mean that you can drive like normal in 12" of snow.

High taxes, earthquakes, floods, mud slides, droughts, wildfire, crime, traffic, all things that add up to more and more and more $$$$$.

I think TX is giving some relief on the penalties. People are going to end up losing their homes if states don't give some "state land rent" relief.

That's on top off $230 per month for homeowner's.

The Earthquake insurance only covers structural damage - no property or personal belongings, which went into effect after the 94 Northridge earthquke because the insurance companies were wiped out from covering both PP and structure.

I think that's because property values are insane compared to the midwest. Ours run roughly 3.5% of the assessed value of the property.

My favorite in KC was watching some idiot in a 4WD who realized he could go better, but didn't realize he stopped like everyone else.
